Even though it happens every year, part of me wishes I could avoid winter altogether by hiding in the back of my closet with my summery shoes. Better yet, in a closet of a resort on a tropical island . . . but I digress.
When trading sandals for boots, it can be harder to justify spending time (or money) on pedicures. Don't get me wrong, I still treat myself to an at-home buff and polish from time to time, but since my feet hide in boots, it's not a big deal if my piggies aren't perfectly painted. Do you change it up with the switching seasons?

i have to be polished year round! :}
I buff and polish all year round! I don't go to the salon though; I DIY it.
me too otaku! i don't wear shoes inside my house so i still have to look at my toes and so does my fiance and you never know when you could end up in hot tub or heated pool or sauna or at a spa and other ppl would have to look at my unpolished toes- never, never am i without perfectly polished toes, ick!
Every Thanksgiving, I go home to SoCal where they wear flip flops year round. So up until early December, I keep up with my pedicures. From January to May, I DIY at home (because I live barefoot)... but since Portland rains and rains and starts Spring in June, I don't spend money on my piggies.
My toes go unpolished during winter.. Maybe it's in my head but I feel like it makes them look better and healthier to give them a break.
I can't stand to do my own toes and I can't bring myself to spend money on something that won't be seen. So, no winter polish for me. But if I have a little extra after the bill raid then I might treat myself
I don't even bother having perfect pedicures in the summer months, and I live in Los Angeles.
I'm always polished, because even in the winter I walk around barefoot at home.
I still go to the salon, but I'll stretch it out an extra week between pedicures during the winter.
I'm pretty much always wearing polish on fingers and toes, but I do it myself.
i always polish my own toes. I live in San Diego so i can pretty much wear peep toes/sandals all year round so i gotta have those toes polished... i tend to use darker colours during fall/winter
i cant do my own toes, nails i love doing myself but toes not so much, so i usually go once at hte beginning of the winter nd then again when it starts to become flip flop weather
No, I let them breath in the winter.
I paint all of my own nails so they basically are polished all the time. I do give them time here and there to breathe but for the most part they are done. I LOVE brick reds in winter that is the color they are normally done
No, I give my toes a break from polish during the winter...unless I have a special occasion.
I must remain fabulous year round.
But in the winter I usually do my own pedicures.
I do my own nails and toes, nobody does it better than I do myself! I give my toes a break in the winter. I may paint them occasionally when I'm bored, but that's it. My fingernails are always done, it's my "thing."
I tend to not polish my toes during the winter. Every now and then though, if I'm bored, why not
My finger nails though, I do all the time
I get a pedicure every month
Its 20 bucks well spent for me anyways
My toes are drying right now!
A lot of my work shoes are peep toes so nice toenails
are a must.
I can't stand to look at naked toes - mine or anyone else's! It's just always bothered me, I don't even know why!
I stay polished all year but I do my own mani/pedi so I'm not spending much on it.
i hate the way my feet look with no polish, so its a must.
I keep my feet polished all the time. It doesn't take much maintenance so it works out. It makes me somewhat like my feet more...I hate my toes.
I pedicure at home year round. I practice aikido, so my toenails are on display all the time!
i live in socal so i wear flip flops year round except for windy and rainy days. but i don't usually go to a salon. i do my fingers and toesies myself.
In LA we don't really have "winter" so open-toe shoe weather can spring up on at any minute. That's why I'm always prepared.
Yes. Not because I care about what they look like. It just makes me feel good to have the pedi. Perfect way to relax.
why bother? no one sees my toes.
Nope
I take a break from polish in the winter, unless I have a special occasion. We always stay at a water-park/hotel at Christmas, so I have to break out the polish for running around at the pool.
I always do my own pedicures. I am far too ticklish and do not enjoy trying my best not to kick the pedicurist in the face. I just don't like my toes without polish. But I live in Arizona, where it's flip flops and peep toe heels year round.
Ehm...I am never polished...I know, not good and very unladylike...
I don't stress about it. I still DIY pedicures during the winter, but only polish whenever the mood strikes me.
I always try out new colors during the winter because people won't really see them. I like experimenting! I DIY because I am a college kid who can't afford a salon treatment.
I live in Montana, so, we wear socks and shoes (and/or snowboots) all winter. And, we wear slippers inside, as well. So, unless I happen to be at a hot springs or in the shower, my feet are covered. So, I try to do the occasional polish in the winter (if I am dressing up or going on a vacation), but on a regular basis it just seems futile:).
I love the way my feet look when my toes are polished, so, yep, year-round for me. And I do my own pedi. (Saves $30 - with tip - for a couple bottles of wine!!)
I'm a DIY girl all the way. I also have some sort of polish on my finger and toe nails all the time. Ditto for me ahamila, I have super ticklish feet, I don't like anyone touching them. Also I don't have any money to drop $30 a pop when I can do it myself.
whatever the season I have to push myself to do it..
I hate
feet. So winter's my big break.
I have to stay painted year round, but I do it myself. I can't afford weekly manicures.
they stay polished for those random moments like an indoor pool party, spa, or jacuzzi get together or even a date. your bound to take off your shoes eventually so i like to be prepared. i hate the look of unpolished toe nails..idk why but its a major thing for me
I never pedicure, partly because I do a good enough job so why would I spend the money (once in a while for a special occasion or just to treat myself), but mostly because I like to change my color all the time. I get bored and I like to experiment and I like change, so of course I still do this during the winter. plus, I live in SoCal, so it's stays warm for a lot of the winter (it was 89 degrees this afternoon!).
In the f/w season I usually just let my toe-nails go bare (since I polish them all s/s long.) Sometimes I apply a clear coat to give them alittle gloss or if I am in the right mood I apply some OPI polish.
Year round! You never know who is going to see your feet.
i stay polished year round and enjoy getting pedicures regardless of the season but if i get chips or whatever i let it linger a lot longer than when in sandals! i certainly don't get nearly as many or as regularly as in sunny months!

i never really bother yer-round
sorry 'year-round'
