I am somewhat obsessed with unclogging my pores, and over the years, I've tried tons of products that claim to do this, from blemish extractors to Pond's Clear Pore Strips. Though I'm always looking for new tricks, I now have an arsenal of unclogging products I use in combination, and one of those is the Biore Self-Heating Mask ($6.99 for eight masks).
This "one-minute facial" is a great way to prep your skin and open up your pores before using a blemish extractor. Plus, unlike some more indulgent and complicated masks, it's very quick and easy to use, so you have no excuse not to. For more on why I like this product, read more
First of all, the box says it contains eight single-use capsules, but each capsule has enough mask for two facials. To use, you lightly wet your face and rub the gelatinous mask on your skin. The gel heats up upon contact with the water, producing a warm sensation as you rub it in. After a minute, the mask will turn dark blue, signaling that it's ready to rinse it off.
It will leave your face feeling smooth and silky, and better yet, it will open your pores so they'll be easy to clear out with a blemish extractor. It's a really fast way to get a little skin indulgence.

What's a blemish extractor?

2It's a little metal tool you use to remove blackheads. I linked to one in the post; they are great!
3I have seen a blemish extractor by Revlon.....Im slightly grossed out by them yet still want to try it
4Sounds so easy to use!
5I've used this before and really liked it!! I should pick some more up.
6I will definitely try this. I have the pore cleansing strips you put across your nose and they are a blessing!
7I have been using this for a long time, I love it!
8I kind of find the extractors don't work particularly well, but I guess it could be because my blackheads are locked in pretty tiny pores. If you're looking to get rid of mild (me) to moderate (my boyfriend) blackeads around your nose and forhead, I would HIGHLY reccomend Neutrogena's Blackhead Clearing Astringent, in the white bottle. A bit of vigorous rubbing twice daily and they're gone, no need to wait for pore strips to dry, no abrasive scrubs.
9I have always loved the Biore self-heating mask. It works great and it feels sooo good when it warms up. It is also quite soothing to use it in the shower when you have a head cold. The warmth is good for those poor, congested sinuses.
10I love the Biore Blackhead strips. Some people are grossed out by them, but there's something therapeutic about ripping those suckers off your nose... I can't wait to try this self-heating face mask! (What will they think of next?)
11Regarding the use of a blemish extractor, this sounds exactly like what I get when I go in for a facial. Is it something that somebody completely skin ignorant (read: me) can do by herself at home?
