Lipstick may have dominated the runways at fashion week, but gloss remains a perennial favorite. One of the biggest launches in the past decade is Lancôme's Juicy Tubes. Eleven of the cult-classic lip glosses are sold around the world every minute. Who knew one gloss could be so popular?

Mollie Winerock of Lancôme shared a few details about how the glosses are developed — plus, just in time for the holidays, Juicy Tubes Chic Delights, we're giving away a set of eight glosses. For a quick Q&A and the scoop on entering the giveaway, read more.
Gloss is usually considered a young woman’s cosmetic, but can women of all ages wear it? Any tips for those of us who remember the Reagan administration and beyond?
Women of all ages can certainly wear gloss. Juicy Tubes can be applied over lipstick or alone for a more natural look. Your lips can appear thinner as you age, and gloss helps to add volume so they appear fuller.
How far in advance does the Lancôme team come up with its color trends?
We are always working over a year in advance. We attend trend and color presentations, and we're always aware of what is going on in the fashion industry and what’s happening on the runways.
What kinds of things influence the color choices?
My inspiration comes from so many different places. I am always inspired by the changing of seasons. Spring shades are inspired by light colors and textures while holiday shades and themes come from moods I might be in or places I have recently visited. I live in New York City, so I am lucky to always be inspired by the interesting people around me. I’m a Juicy Tubes fanatic, so I create shades and designs of things I would love to wear and have in my purse.
What’s your favorite versatile color that seems to look good on anyone?
Shades that look the best on anyone typically are neutral tones with a light shimmer. I would recommend Spring Fling or our clear Juicy Tube Pure. Pure is a great shade because you can wear it alone or over your favorite lipstick to add shine and luster.

I've recently discovered L'Oreal's Infallible lip glosses and they are now my favorite...the reason? Because the colors are amazing and the feel of the gloss is a little sticky/tacky so it stays on for a long time.
1I remember my very first lip gloss. It was pink and sparkly, but when applied, looked like my lips, but better. I must have been about 15 at the time. I was never without that gloss! I've been hooked ever since.
2Well, I don't know if I have a favorite lip gloss story, but here's the story of my favorite lip gloss! I am a nude lip addict. Every lip product I buy is always of the nude or neutral family. It's so boring, but I can't help it. I love them. So I went to MAC last weekend, all set to purchase the Neutral Lip/Lustreglass set from their Holiday Collection. But for some reason, the Coral set jumped out at me at the MAC counter, and I ended up getting that one instead. And now I have 5 of the most amazing coral lip glosses ever, I literally love every one of them. And that is the story of how I fell in love with colorful lip gloss
3Me and a friend in middle school used to mix our mom's lipsticks with vaseline in the microwave to make our own lipglosses.
4I don't have a particular lip gloss story aside from me being in love with a specific lip gloss that shall remain nameless, it becoming lost somehow and falling out of my purse, and my lovely fiance heard me freaking out and purchased me a replacement. Now thats love.
5LOL...i was leaving the gym and had to meet some friends for dinner and forgot my make-up case...but I had my kiehl's lip gloss in a light pink and used it as my cheek color, eye color and gloss!!
6my grandmother and I share a few things in common but the one we get most made fun of for - is that we will ALWAYS have lipgloss on. We could be in sweats, we could be in bed, we could be brushing our teeth or at the gym....LIPGLOSS will always be on!
7I am really bad at keeping track of my lip glosses. They always seem to go through the wash and I throw them out. I can't ever use them again because I am nervous that the soap will have gotten into them.
8Oh boy do I love lip gloss for awhile I tied the solely lipstick route because I am a grown up and gorwn up's wear lipstick gloss is for kids but quickly discovered lipsticks dehydrated my lips and I had to use balm and the application was fussy so here I am again back to the glosses.
9I have never tried these, would be awesome. Hubby works in America, I have a shipping address!
10My lip gloss story is that when I was younger, I always saw the flavored lip glosses at Claire's Boutique and was too nervous to try them. Then, at school, a friend let me try her Vanilla Lip Smackers and I thought it was great! Since then, I love vanilla-flavored lip gloss and always think about my first lip gloss everytime I purchase one!
11i found out about juicy tubes from a friend who is a lip gloss junkie. she definitely introduced to one of the best!
12lipgloss is def a girl's best friend!!! i remember my first kiss not just becuase of it being a big stepping stone for me as a teen but mostly because i remember my boyfriend at the time saying "wow that lipgloss was good" i kepted buying the same lipgloss for years and years making it my signature color and brand. My lipgloss was definetely popping!!!
13I guess I don't necessarily have a lip gloss "story" but... my husband HATES for me to have anything (lip gloss/lipstick) on my lips. He refuses to even give me a tiny smooch if he sees that I have lip gloss on. It just grosses him out for some reason. It's usually a very tough call - not wear it to make him happy or wear it because I love lip gloss! Most of the time, I wear it anyway (but end up wiping it off!)
I would LOVE these lip glosses!
14My favorite lipgloss story is about my first lipgloss - LipSmackers Orange Soda (you know you remember it!)
I was about 10 at the time I got it and since it wasn't just a plain ChapStick or pot of Carmex, I felt so sophisticated - it was like a real beauty product to me!
The smell and taste of that stuff was addicting so I used to just cake it on.
About a week after I got it, I went to the bathroom (during History class). While I was washing my hands, I glanced up at the mirror and almost died of embarrassment - that thick, gunky layer of LipSmackers showed up BRIGHT ORANGE on my lips! I looked like I had kissed a pumpkin!
Needless to say, that was my first big beauty lesson - LESS is MORE!
15I can't leave the house without ONE of my many glosses. I was going into the city with some friend once, realized I hadn't packed one in my clutch and made them stop at the mall right before they closed and ran in and blew drink money on a new MAC lip glass right there. Ha. C'mon glossy lips are more important than a martini right??!!
16I love bright colored lips, but lipsticks always look so harsh on me. That is why I love lip gloss - I can choose a crazy color and put it on as light or a thick as I want. My mom gave me my first Juicy tube in a bright pink and I have been wearing it ever since.
17I use Victoria's Secret Beauy Rush lip gloss (for about 4 years now) and I love it!
18I feel naked without it on!
One night I did the "one side" bangs look so all my bangs were parted to the right side. Well as soon as I got in the club they started falling in front of my face and of course I didn't have hairspray to hold it in place...so I took out the tube of gloss and dabbed a little on the ends of the hair and it stayed in place! Now it's not only for my lips!
Actually, if it weren't for lip gloss, I may not have this current obsession with cosmetics and skin care. I didn't wear make-up when I was younger (childhood to teenage years) because of my mom's house rules, but I was always curious about it. It wasn't until she bought me a lip balm that she thought was sheer, but actually was decently pigmented with mauve tones that I noticed how much of a difference just a little bit of color makes. I've been lucky to have fuller lips as one of my features and the shine and color of lipgloss just lights up my whole face. Ever since then, I've been a serious addict, and love it.
19My favorite lip gloss used to be in those little pots. I never went anywhere without it.
20I love lipgloss. I like colored gloss much better than lipstick. a heavy lipstick makes my lips feel weighted. A gloss makes me feel fresh and enhances the natural with a little kick of color.
21We had a surprise birthday party for my mom's 50th several years ago. We sent her on a scavenger hunt while we finished getting ready for the party. Part of the hunt was a visit to Lancome for a makeover including a little giftcard so she could pick up a new juicy tube. She looked fabulous at her Hawaian themed "Life a Beach at 50" party. her look complete with a little Juicy tubes lipgloss.
I remember when it was cool as a younger one to have big glittery lips and the fact you had to put the shiny stuff on over and over....I have grown up and love good glosses now and love ones that stay
22My favorite lipgloss story... Well, I didn't even wear make-up until college (my roommate did it for me, grade school experimentation doesn't count) and I didn't dabble in make-up until graduate school! Then I became obsessed with Revlon Super Lustrous lipglosses, which are very pretty. Then one day, I discovered Revlon ColorStay Mineral Lipglazes, and I ditched all the SL lipglosses I'd collected up to that point and bought almost every single lipglaze! My husband is still confused.
23My best lip gloss story is a HILARIOUS.
A girlfriend and I were arguing about whose treat our bar tab was a while ago. We decided to have a "purse off" and whoever had the most beauty products in her purse could pay it.
My 6 lip glosses put me over the top!
Can't get enough!
24funniest lip gloss story- don't put it in the car especially when its hot- had a tube of glittery shimmer red expand and blow and it looked like a disco person popped a zit and it hit all over..or a dog who ate glittery farted bloddy glitter shards
25I absolutely loved the Sweet Treats lip gloss that Victoria's Secret used to make. I went to their store and bought every flavor that they had when I found out that they were being discontinued and I still use them to this day. The new Beauty Rush gloss is mediocre, but it's definitely not on the same level as Sweet Treats. They're great for just general moisture or a night on the town when you want to attract and provide a good kiss with a cutie. It also brightens my smile, which is the compliment to any outfit.
26I guess I never thought I could wear anything on my lips. I was so self conscious of how large they were (pre Angelina Jolie) and I thought they made me ugly. Discovering lip gloss helped me to develop confidence about my lips, which are, after all, a large part of my face. I don't remember what the name of my first gloss was, but whatever it was it is well appreciated.
27o yummy i have so many of them spread all over the place!!
28I really don't know if I have a lip gloss story, but I can honestly say that lip gloss is what turned me into a Beauty Junkie. My first lip glosses were from Bonne Bell. I remember I got them one year for Christmas and I was so excited. They can in a cylindrical container and had a doe foot applicator. I loved this sparkly pink watermelon flavored and my other favorite was a shimmery white color that tasted like vanilla frosting. I still wish they made those. I'd probably still wear them
I actually bought a random strawberry lipsmacker balm last night at the store because I wanted a little pick me up.
29My very first lip gloss was called candy apple, and was made by l'oreal. i used it for a few months, and then when i was at a bar mitzvah my friend borrowed it, lost it, and so i never got it back. i was devastated and tried to find another one with the perfect colour and scent, but it was impossible. I now have more then 30 lip glosses, but that was still my favourite. Recently, when i was at a drugstore (possibly CVS) I fond a lip gloss called candy apple. It smelled familiar, and was the same red colour. I bought it and have been using it now, and although it isn't quite the same, it is the replacement I had been looking for. I think everyone knows what its like to have their favourite colour discontinued, and the joy of finding a replacement for it.
30I am a lip gloss addict. Is it wrong to have at least four in your purse at any given time? My favorite right now is Body Shop's Hi-Shine Lip Treatment in Red Gleam.
31I couldn't be happier that gloss is the new lipstick.Sure, when I was a kid everyone loved Bonne Bell lip smackers. But as I "matured"(ha)I moved on to the sophisticated world of drug store lipstick, finally moving on to the department store type.My daughter introduced me to the juicy tubes from Lancome. They are her absolute favorite! As for me,I now have so many I feel like the Imelda Marcos of the lip gloss world. But I must continue to try the latest color/flavor.(I wish I were getting paid.)By the way,my husband LOVES it when I wear gloss,he will steal kisses just for the taste.
32I carry no less than 7 lip-glosses in my purse... no joke! Sparkly, colored, clear, moisturizing, flavored, etc. A girl's gotta be prepared!
33I keep 3 lip glosses on my desk at work, 2 on my dresser, and 2 in my purse. It just feels weird NOT having it with me at all times.
34I have been addicted to Clinique's 'Shy Beige' gloss for years... and I am so upset because they don't carry it anymore! I just finished my last bottle (which I probably bought at least a year ago). Now I love their 'Voluptuous Violet' full potential gloss... but not as much as my 'Shy Beige'
35I think lip gloss is probably one of the first "adult" makeup most girls have...I know it was mine! Love the way it makes my lips shiny & it smells good too!
36I love Bare Escentuals Buxom Babes lipgloss especially cause one is named Amber.
37I am addicted to lip gloss! I have about 6 tubes of it in my purse. My favorite is a Bath and Body Works pancake-flavored one...it sounds disgusting but it's actually great!
38I love all these tributes to lip gloss on this board.
I went midnight bowling with friends one night-in a packed bowling alley populated with a ton of high school kids around, in the dark, bowling badly.
Then there is me and my 20something group, drinking beer and having a swell old time, when the DJ (oh yes it was that kind of rockin bowl!)turned the lights on and announced last call. So I went to bowl in the now bright lights, but as the ball left my hand I fell flat on my back in the lane, where everyone could see...Pretty smooth!
But right after this kid ran across about 5 lanes to me and handed me my lipgloss that flew out of my pocket and into his lane when I hit the ground.
I don't keep my lipgloss in my pants pockets anymore.
39When I was in my teens (man, am I dating myself!), the first official lip gloss hit the market. It was in the mid-sixties and was called Slicker by Yardley, part of their London Look campaign. Until then, if you wanted glossy lips, you dabbed a little Vaseline on your lips! The face of the campaign was the beautiful Jean Shrimpton and EVERYONE wanted to look like her! Believe it or not, I recently went through an old box of my belongings that I had left at my parents' house many, many years ago, and,... lo and behold!, there was an ancient tube of Yardley's Slicker! I wasn't about to put it on my lips, but I recall that it was a little dry and sticky, with a sort of soapy smell and taste! Thank goodness, we have come a long way and now have wonderful products, like Lancome's Juicy Tubes!
40I heart Juicy Tubes, I remember when I got my first tube the color was so pretty and it made my lips pop. They discontinued it , I miss it.
41I fondly remember sitting in the audience at my little sister's 2nd grade Christmas pageant. The kids looked so cute; the girls in their Christmas dresses, a couple of the boys sporting ties, and a few in costume for a nativity scene. One little fashionista in particular stood out: she was wearing a red velvet dress with matching cranberry lip gloss - and the poor little cutie had applied it all around her mouth, almost down to her chin. She actually pulled it off quite well, singing her little heart out with a confident "I know I look fabulous" smile on her lipglossed face.
42i love wearing lipgloss, and apply kiehl's gloss ritually every night before i go to bed. the only prob w/wearing gloss in the day though is that i've had fruit flies and bugs get stuck to my lips more than once! i guess they love gloss as much as i do..
43My favorite lipgloss story will be the time when I win Juicy Tubes from BellaSugar!
44LOL...my "favorite lip gloss story" is kind of funny. When I was 19, some friends and I were on a way back from an Alanis Morrisette concert in Connecticut. We got pulled over by the police because the driver didn't signal when we took a turn. Well, things went from bad to worse after this, as the officer found our stash of booze in the trunk and ended up going through the car and our stuff. He asked to look in my purse, and when he did, my favorite lip gloss rolled down a little hill and into the woods. I was so upset that it rolled away, I ran after it, and the officer started screaming at me to come back and what was I doing! I told him that I had to save my favorite lip gloss...I think he thought I was a nut. But I found my gloss! I still remember it well, even though it's long been discontinued. It was made by Bath and Body Works (back when they had their cosmetics line) and it was this brick-red shade that I loved (brick red was THE shade in the mid-late 90s!). I believe it was called "Pretty Penny".
I would never choose a shade like that now for my cool complexion, but oh, how I loved it back in 1996...so much that I forgot I was in trouble with a police officer!
45i love benefit's lip glosses, but have never tried the juicy tubes and would LOVE to win! Thanks!
46Uhm... just so long as you don't tell anyone else.
My first "makeup" was a cookie-scented no-name lipgloss I got as a kid. It reeeeeally smelled like cookies, so at some point, when no one was looking, I applied it directly to my tongue. It did not taste like it smelled, and somehow I didn't want wear it any more after that. Needless to say, the experience did NOT permanently turn me off makeup.
47I have always been the ultimate girly girl. I could honestly spend an entire day getting ready (and I probably have). I developed an obsession with makeup when I was in middle school. One day I went to the local drugstore and I ran into this product, Maybelline Wet Shine Diamonds. It was love at first sight. My best friend and I began rocking this glossy glittery look all over school, and I'm sure we looked really cool putting on lip gloss in the middle of class. Unfortunately the product is discontinued but I will always remember rocking the middle school halls with my tube a Wet Shine Diamonds.
48I have a funny lip gloss story... I went with my sister-in-law to get our makeup done at the local MAC counter before her wedding. The artist working on me was not exactly talkative - she didn't really tell me anything she was doing while she was working. Maybe she was distracted by boyfriend problems or something; who knows. Anyway, she put this lip gloss on me and walked away to get a different product or brush, and my lips started tingling. A lot. I started to freak out a little, and looked around for the gloss tube, but she'd taken it with her. It died down before she came back, so I didn't think to ask her what was up. I ended up buying the gloss because I liked the way it looked and I knew I'd need to touch up before the wedding 3 hours later, and I started laughing when I saw the box because it was lip-plumping gloss. I'd never used such a thing and that's why I freaked out over the tingling sensation. I felt kind of dumb, but it was funny.
49Having my hands on those would be super sweet. I'm in dire need of something different for my lips.
