If you did a lot of cooking over the Thanksgiving holiday, I'm sure you did a lot of dishes. And if you did a lot of dishes, I'm sure your hands are feeling the effects. Even if you weren't scrubbing away, the cooler months often produce dry hands that need some extra TLC. So, if you're looking for an easy do-it-yourself treatment, I learned this great combo while holiday shopping at an Aveda store last year.
In your hands, mix the following, work in for an invigorating massage, and rinse away: about a quarter-sized amount of Hand Relief ($19), a scoop of Soothing Aqua Therapy ($28.50) bath salts, and a few drops of your favorite essential oil. Currently, I'm really digging Patchouli Oil ($13). Psst — you can use drugstore ingredients, too. The results are still luxurious. Aaah.

I work with kids, so I'm constantly washing my hands all day...this sounds fab for the horrible dry, chapped skin I get in the winter.

2L'Occitane's shea butter hand cream ($10 at Sephora) is amazing. I hate wearing gloves when I wash dishes, but this stuff really stays without being greasy. I keep one on my desk at work, too. The smell of the regular blue-label variety isn't too strong for the office.
If my hands are particularly bad, it usually shows up in the cuticles. I slather on cuticle oil, let it sit, then follow up with hand cream.
3I just put almond oil on my rough hands and then rinse it off. SO SOFT!
4I love almond oil lotion and shea butter for my hands! As of right now, I use either cocoa butter or St. Ives Vitamin E lotion--I don't get that dry in the winter, though.
5I use The Body Shop's Africa Spa Salt Scrub and their Africa Spa Hand and Foot Butter. They work wonders!
6I use a handful of coarse salt (normally my body salt scrub, but I've used just plain coarse salt before!), then follow up with vaseline. If things are REALLY bad, I wear latex gloves for a while. I am a budget-minded lass, living in a cold weather area, with horrid dry skin issues. If it works for me, it'll work for you
Yeah, it doesn't smell special, but it does do the job. I keep meaning to infuse some baby oil with lavender, but I keep forgetting to...sounds like I've got something to do tomorrow!
