Maybe you've noticed I've been a tad obsessed with red lipstick lately? So, when I told Space NK founder Nicky Kinnaird I was writing a series of posts on the hot shade, she took me directly to Poppy King's Lipstick Queen shades for inspiration.
"For someone who wants to wear red but doesn't feel as confident about it, you've got Saint Red ($18) with 10% pigment level so you can have the red without feeling as though your lips are walking in before you do," she said. "For someone who loves red lipstick, Red Sinner ($18) is your perfect color red — a 90% pigment level that says in place," she added.
This got me to thinking, even if you think you would never wear red — and by the way, what's stopping you? — are you naughty or are you nice when it comes to this bold shade?

If your gonna do red, you GOTTA go All The Way!
1I love a red stain or a softer red on me, I'm working up to a full on red lip
2Definitely a saint! For a girl who has been doing the nude lip for years, its been hard to move to something more dramatic. I also am on the small lip-sided, so I think darker colours will make it look even smaller! But like psychobabble, I am hoping to work my way up to a full-on red pout!
3Haha definitely a sinner! I love the glam/powerful/b!tchy feel. I really really do think if we all wore bold red lips, women could rule the world. Though we secretly do already.
4I am in search of "my perfect red". I use sugared maple by Lancome and Copper Coral by Estee Lauder. Neither are straight reds, but they are in the red family and look great on me. I wish i could wear cherry
5If it is during the day then I would be a saint. Night time calls for sinner lips.
When I wear red for day I fully apply it then blot it until it is a stain. That way it is softer and not so garish. Plus I don't want to spend my entire day continually rechecking to make sure my lipstick didnt shift.
For night time, I just fully apply it and go
6I say both, but even more with the full on red. I wish it was more of a norm for people to wear full on red during the day. I don't see why not. I love a bare face (or a bare looking face) with just the red on the lips.
7Saint. Bold, true reds do not look good on me. It has to be an off-red, or very lightly applied.
8Heh I'm a sinner
9It's a high-maintenance color, especially for daytime wear...but I'm definitely a sinner. Years of swing dancing in costume taught me that everyone looks fabulous & glamorous in the RIGHT shade of red.
10Try lipstick queens medieval.
11I don't normally wear lipstick, I stay at home with my 3 year old and so lip balm is my norm. But when I do wear it, it's RED and I'm a sinner, a big bad sinner! ha ha Loreal has one called Drumbeat Red, which is a classic, and looks great on everyone! Revlon has a color called Crushed Cherry, that every time I'd buy a new tube, I'd get a boyfriend. In fact, the last tube I bought I knew I'd find a boyfriend, and the first night I wore it, I met my husband! Needless to say, it's a winner!
12I love both. It really depends on the occasion to break it out.
13Halloween is the only time I will do a full on red lip. Other than that I feel like a clown!
14bastylefilegirl - I just ordered medievel from Barneys! Can't wait to try it!
15Both! I love a full, true red, but it's just not appropriate (or easy to maintain) in academic/professional situations - so I wear a more sheer red (Dior High Shine lipcolor in Flamenco Red is awesome!)
16Sinner. I'm definitely a sinner. I like my lips to be really red.
17Given the choice a perfectly shaped full-on red mouth for sure, but I like the sheer look for a casual day.
Red in nearly any form is by far my favorite lip color.
18'Sinner. I'm definitely a sinner. I like my lips to be really red.'
Same here.
19My lips are VERY poorly defined--lining doesn't work, and there's a lot of red in my skin. Red lipstick always looks like it's bleeding all over my face. I can only wear it diffused in ChapStick. 10% pigment sounds good!
20I'm too lazy to wear red lips, so I guess I'm a sinner. Of the seven deadly sins, sloth, gluttony and lust really don't lend themselves to wearing red lipstick. At least not if you want it to stay on.
21I like to keep my red lips sheer so I'm definitely a saint. My skin has a lot of red in it and I have red hair so I feel clownish in bright red lips.
22yeah, I agree with eshellmoyer - I'm just too lazy to wear red lipstick. it requires constantly checking that there's none on your teeth and reapplying it. plus, red lipstick also requires plainer eyes, and I have to wear a lot of eyeliner since I was practically born with bags under my eyes and eyeliner helps...
23If I'm going to wear red lips (which is very, very rarely), I prefer a stain or something more on the natural side. So I guess I'd have to say Saint.
Dramatic red lips are not for me.
24I'm with just a nerd, go big or go home.
