For this week's how to, I thought I'd give you a DIY spa treatment for a change. The other day, I came across a few recipes for Apple Pectin Toner, so I decided to whip up an easy version of my own. Here are four simple steps to making your own all-natural face toner.

- Take one green apple and cut it into small cubes. Leave the peel on but remove the seeds.
- Combine the apple and 1/2 cup lukewarm water in a small saucepan and bring to a boil. Once it boils, remove from heat and allow it to cool completely.
- Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a clean bowl. Stir in 1/4 cup of witch hazel.
- Apply the toner with a clean cotton ball, or pour it into an empty spray bottle and spritz on.
Like DIY spa treatments? I have plenty more of them and so does FitSugar, so happy pampering.

I love making my own skin treatments, and this is one I'll definitely try. Besides, green apples are a staple in my fridge!
1would you keep this in the fridge and how long can you keep it for?
2Oh, sounds like fun. Thanks for the idea.
3Crafty idea. I must try it!
4I bet it smells delish! I dig DIY treatments, what a great way to look beautiful and save some cash!
5Hey Everyone - So happy to hear that you like it - it's definitely worth a try, especially if you've got an apple lying around that's about to go bad. I'd say that you can keep it in the fridge for about 2 - 3 days max. Think of it like fruit salad - at some point it will just ferment and get all icky. Makes you wonder about all of the preservatives we use daily, huh.
6Neat idea.
7This really works! Thanks for the great idea!
