Or does it? Call it the poor man's lip plumper, or just simply call it an easy way to be frugal and spicy this holiday season — well, that is if you're not too sensitive, like me.
Recently, I received an email tip with an idea from Andrea Claire, senior makeup artist from FACE atelier. She explained that adding a little cayenne pepper to your lip gloss creates a natural plump. Knowing that cayenne can do a number on my stomach, I was a little leery, but doing a little experiment in the kitchen sounded a lot more fun than any amount of pain.
The outcome? I definitely felt tingling lips, and my pout was plumper. Unfortunately, I also had chapped lips. I think this little trick is great in a pinch (it did work, after all), be careful if you're prone to irritation — or your pout may be more peeved than plumped.

Ha. I don't think I'll be trying this.
1I think I'll pass on this one...
2Ewww--- definitely not for me.
3even commerically prepared lip plumpers make me want to cry when applied, so I'm going to stand down on this idea
4Sounds horrible. I don't understand why people want their lips to burn and sting. So bizarre to me.
5Ha..I never thought of that, but I don't think I will try it since I don't really like lip plumpers anyway
6Lol I kind of like this idea. Why pay extra money for a gloss to irritate your lips when you can do it yourself?
7I have friends in Mexico that do something similar - they chop up jalapeño peppers and mix them with vaseline.
8Cayenne pepper is for food. Eating spicy things is enough of a lip plumper, should I want one - I wouldn't pay for the privilege!
9Sounds fun.
10To each her own, but this amuses me.
11how much cayenne pepper do you add? I like plump lips.
12This is similar to this recipe: http://www.skin-care-recipes-and-remedies.com/lip-plumper.html
13All I can say is ouch! I'll pass, thanks
I have to pass on this too because my lips are sensitive.
14I did this last night before going out (a teeny tiny bit of pepper), and it did make my lips more tingly. But then all I wanted to do was down the beer faster to cool off my lips. Not sure if it really made them plumper or not. Also, I avoided kissing my boy so as not to pass the pepper onto him. Probably wasn't worth while, but I felt poutier because my lips were burning!
15That sounds really funny! I didn't think about cayenne pepper, I guess it would plump the lips. I think I'll pass on this one, seeing as my lips are plump enough.
16That's silly. It's much better to just brush your lips with a soft toothbrush before applying lipgloss. And, your kisses won't taste like you just had Mexican food
17Don't ruin your Nars lip gloss eeekkk!!!!!
18I love Cayenne but I could care less if my lips were plumper. If I didn't have any plumping gloss on hand I'd just use something really glossy to give the appearance of fuller lips.
19Seeing as how I cannot handle spicy food and I have a tendency to lick my lips, I do not see this turning out very well for me
! I just bought organic formulas: lip potion and I love it. It tingles, shines, and plumps in
more than five different colors!
20da best. Keep it going! Thank you
