I've got snacking on the mind today (OK, everyday). Because I'll leave food reviews to YumSugar, I've conjured up some of my fave salty and sugary body scrubs. (I know it's not the same thing, but no calories woohoo!)
Both types offer natural exfoliation but there are some key differences. First up, the mineral content in sea salts can help increase circulation on top of taking off that top layer of skin. Sugar won't have that additional benefit (no minerals in sugar . . . sigh) but, if you've got sensitive or nicked skin, you'll be saved the sting from adding salt to your wounds. I like to alternate between the two types – like sugar the day after I've shaved and salt before – so spot products to get your scrub on in the widget below.

I prefer sugar scrubs. I think they smell better, feel better, and feel a little more luxurious to use.
1I like them both. My favorite is the Spa Wisdom salt scrub from The Body Shop.
2I prefer sugary for the smell & taste (not that I eat them
but
sometimes they accidentally reach your mouth), but to do the job, salty are no less effective. I used The Body Shop's Brazil Nut scrub, and it just turns my skin into a rich, moisturized
cloak of velvet
3I like the sugar scrub. They make your skin feel like silk. My favorite sent is lavender or vanilla
4my favorite is the Philosophy Margarita Salt Scrub. it makes my dry dull skin (thats actually sensitive) amazingly soft and smooth and you also get the sweet lime scent that isnt overwhelming once you rinse off. i use it the day before i shave and it makes my skin so smooth. you can even use it after you shave because it isnt as painful as the other salt scrubs when you have irritation. i loooove it.
5I've used both.
6I prefer salt scrubs to sugar scrubs.. They seem to exfoliate my skin better. (I looove Carol's Daughter's Almond Cookie salt scrub. It smells sooooooo yummm!
)
7My favorite scrub isn't a salt or sugar scrub - Caudalie Cabernet Scrub. I don't really like buying salt scrubs too often because it's a bunch of sea salt with oils and fragrance that's usually overpriced, though I looooove Shea Terra Organics Pomegranate and Shea Butter Salt Scrub. And I do like sugar scrubs, but I refuse to pay [relative to the ingredients used] obscene amounts of money on and just mix my own with brown sugar, apricot kernel & sweet almond oil.
8I've always loved Origins Salt Scrub, but there are some great sugar scrubs too (like the 100% Pure line). Right now, I'm just using a coconut body butter scrub by Softsoap, and it's great! Smells tropical, super-cheap, and it does a nice job exfoliating.
9I'm of the both category - sometimes you want salty and sometimes you want sweet
10Savannah Bee Company's honey scrub was awesome but it not being made anymore. I even requested it to the owner once but to no avail.
11I like Carol's Daughter ocean scrub and I can't wait to try to Bliss one!
I prefer sugar scrubs, but I usually make my own. Raw coarse sugar and a bit of extra virgin olive oil does the trick.
12Man, I need to get another jar of scrub. Salt or sugar, either one, I just can totally tell my skin is in need of a good exfoliation!
13I've never tried a sugar scrub but all this exfoliation talk makes me want to jump in the shower and get rid of all that dead skin!
14I definitively prefer sugar scrubs.
