What would you do with approximately 250 bottles of nail polish? Why, painstakingly paint a giant colorful quilt on your car, of course.
According to The Gazette, that's just what Urbana, Maryland resident Jill Bell did. After finding a dent in her car's hood, she cleverly painted a Band-Aid over the unsightly bump. Chuckle. She liked the idea so much, she decided to paint her entire car with nail polish! Click here to check out the photos. I'm guessing (and hoping) she didn't use one of those $30-a-pop lacquers from Chanel's Moscow Collection.
Nope. What she did use? The help of others. "Lots of ladies in my church donated nail polish, and lots of ladies at Weight Watchers, too," she told the newspaper. Bell estimates that 100-250 bottles of nail polish were used to accomplish this feat — a feat that took 13 months to finish. Whoa.

That's very cool. I'd never ever do it, but it must have been fun.
LOL somebody prove to me that she is not from Berkeley!
this is awesome
Well that's decation... 13 months? That woman is admirable.
FAIL.
i bet she got really high of the fumes =P
Whoa is right. That's a lot of nail polish!
If I had unlimited money and an unlimited amount of cars I would probably do that only to the roof of a car, kind of like how the UK flag is on top of some of those little cars? That could be cool.
Her car should be in a museum!
I wouldn't paint my WHOLE car with nailpolish, but I'd make some pretty designs. However, the patience that must have taken -- geez.
Why??
It's kinda cool, but...why? Seems like there would be things more worthy of the time, energy, and money.
That's really cool but my god, how did she not pass out from the fumes!
That's pretty awesome. I wonder if she takes it to Art Car shows. I'm not brave enough to decorate my car; I'd want to be able to trade it in someday.
That must have been fun!
its pretty nifty really... I'll bet she has one hella good top coat
That's, umm, really interesting.
too artsy fartsy for me
I did this to my desk in high school. I love that desk, it's so funky and was really fun to paint!
Interesting. I'm not really sure what to think.
she will need 500 bottles of nailpolish remover to take it off.
Well that seems incredibly pointless but whatever makes you happy I guess.
LOL BarbieKillsBratz--500 bottles of nail polish remover. Yeah, devils, I don't know how she didn't pass out from the fumes. What a funny story!
That is so cool! I would love to use the nail polish on my actual nails, but to each their own.
Lady, seek professional mental help. To all that thinks her car is cool, ditto................
... okay well that is nice- very cool but yeah
lol
THATS AWSOME! way to use free time:)
WHY WOULD YOU PAINT YOUR CAR WITH NAIL POLISH? AND IF YOU WOULD, WHY NOT PAINT IT ALL ONE COLOR
Thats so innovative! The lady looks very happy with her work, what more one want! I am sure it would have been patience tester.
That is a beautiful work of art. I can see that it's an older car, what a great way to up the value and it's beauty. I wish I'd thought of that with my last older 82 Toyota Previa. LOL It would've looked great as a giant quilt rolling down the road. I think I'd have done a regular quilt, with folds around the corners and so forth. That's great lady... let's see another one folks.
I just don't get it. I think anyone who paints their vehicle with nail polish, spray paint or any other kind of paint is nuts or looking for attention. Leave the painting to be body shop people! My BF's ex took a bunch of cans of paint and proceeded to paint her mini-van (along with her young children who weren't old enough to know that this wasn't cool)!! Around town people called her the crazy lady in the crazy van! There were all sorts of animal prints and different scenes all over the van. Needless to say, she is CRAAAAAAAAAAZY. If you are above the age of 16 and think it's cool to paint your vehicle, you have some major issues!!
Crazy woman
BIG UP TO SC!! im likin that south carolina flag she painted on the passenger side. the woman's got good taste
If we could all put in this amount of effort to help the homeless and those that have little or no food what a fantastic world it could be. Happy Holiday's to all whether or not you believe in them or not.
Insane! I Seriously want to know "how in the hell" did she not pass out from the fumes? I'd Never do that to my car. Yes, I would love to get my car painted a different color than it is now (champagne), like maybe Hot Pink, just to be different, or Cobalt Blue, but I'd take it to a Professional before ever doing what this lady did. sure, it looks kinda cool, but all that polish is gonna wear off eventually, then it'll be ugly as fu**! oh well...to each their own I guess.
guess she will be able to find her car in the parking lot
looks interesing, but what happens when it starts chipping? nail polis always chips - I don't care how good of a top coat you put on it. the paint job underneath is toast, if she ever changes her mind and wants to remove the polish. Urbana is on my way to work, I may see her driving around one day.
I'm sure she will have a nice time with that car...AT THE LOONEY BIN! Give me a break *eyeroll*
She has entirely too much time on her hands! It should make it easy to find her car in the parking lot, though.
I think it's great that people can be different and stand out. Don't listen to all these negative people, people who are daring, and different are the ones that get noticed. Think how different it was for people to have tattoos now everyone gets them. Don't be jealous it's so ugly on you!
BAD IDEA and a complete waste of time. Laquer cracks because it never reaches a completed drying time. Body shops use a 2 stage paint
with a catalyst that ensure complete drying through a chemical process rather than air drying. True you can paint a car with Lauquer in fact it was widely used years ago but it dosent last . I myself have painted cars with spray cans of Lauquer but knowing it will only last a few years which was fine for the old car I sprayed it on but to spend 13 months to use a laquer based paint very bad idea and dont do it
I hope she has a good top coat to put on it. I know of one that dries extremely fast is called "Dazzle Dry"
I hope she enjoys the look while it last
I build show winning Custom Cars for a living, spend thousands taking them to car shows, getting trophies all the time and I never got this kind of exposure! I think she's really cool. It's just a car, have fun with it! Lady, if you read this, I give you props!!!
damn I can't wait to retire!
That's really cool! I wouldn't do it though. It would take to much time.
The band aid idea was cute, but seriously.... there are thousands of kids in foster care, thousands of pets being killed in shelters every day. There are languages to learn, skills to learn, mountains you could climb, rivers you could clean up.....
pick one.
Pick two... and you'll be able to stop grazing in front of the fridge all day, you'll be able to drop weight watchers, and drop the car "polishing".
fantastic!you've started a new fad.i love it!
Nail Polish chips... how's she going to keep it from clipping? What protective coat is she going to use?
You know what, I think this is great. What an awesome way to express yourself. People who can express themselves and who don't really give a rats ass of what other people think, got it all together in my book. I ask you, what kind of world would it be if we couldn't express ourselves? Wouldn't it be great if we could tell people exactly what we think? I mean, if you were my friend, and I didn't like your new hair cut, wouldn't you appreciate it more if I told you the truth instead of telling you, "oh, it looks great!" People need to feel good about themselves and if this what makes this girl feel good, then more power to her. Stop thinking of what others think about you and do what makes you happy. Yeah some might think this is a lil' over the top, but she likes it and that's all that matters.
It took her 13months to finish this cos it was obviously done at her spare time. i think its kool. whats with wiv d hating?!!!! am sure she's having fun and receiving all d attention she deserves
I think the car looks great and give her credit for a great design and all the hours that went into painting the car.For those of you that are negative or making fun of her,you need to go tanning and back to shouting "OMG Becky!" or whatever it is you do.Give credit where it's due.The ones that don't like what she has done to her car are ones that could'nt accomplish something like that and that's why you even pay somebody else to paint your nails.
