Are your lips chapped or dry right now? Mine are just coming down after a little cayenne pepper experiment gone awry. So, I did a little search for lip balms to take out some of the sting, and what did I find? A product by some bees, of course. For today's reader review, see what Indie B had to say about Honey Lip Balm by Burt's Bees ($3.99). The floor's all yours, Indie:
I love this lip balm. It is my absolute favorite hands down. There isn't a time when it's not on my lips. Smoother than the original Peppermint Burt's Bees, it has a subtle scent and gives a nice matte sheen to lips. Did I mention that it feels great? Excellent for parched, dry lips — excellent for any lips! This lip balm is a must-have. It also works wonderfully under lipstick or gloss.

Yuck. I bought this lip balm thinking it was the original formula and had to give it away once I smelled it. It has an unpleasant perfume smell I couldn't get past. The formula is pretty good though.
1i'm addicted to the original... does this one make your lips tingle? i don't think i can go without the tingle. :}
2the original formula is far superior to this!!! it does have a unpleasant taste and smell i couldn't get past. and no!! no tingle. original, please.
3The honey version smells a bit of baby powder and I don't like the texture on my lips.
Lately I've been using my Chanel eye cream on my lips at night and by morning they feel smooth. An expensive and silly option, but I have not found a lip balm that moisturizes my lips, isn't too waxy, and doesn't cause pore clogging around the lip line.
I've been told the Kiehl's #1 is the best. Going to try that one next.
4The honey is okay, but the original is so much better
5Oh puke. The original is a cult classic-this is nothing of the sort. The honey scent in this is very offensive. Could just be me, but I bought this and threw it away. The Pomegranate one too. Don't mess with a good thing!
6I like the smell of that balm.
7i have this and yeah, it doesn't smell all that great.. but it does make my lips feel instantly smooth.
8i dont know, i actually love this! The tingle always bothered me in the original. This one works great under lipstick and lip gloss... the smell doesn't bother me either... i dont know, maybe everyone is thinking of a different kind but I find nothing wrong with it... burts bees is the best.
9I used that lip balm once and did not like the sticky feeling. It dries pretty quick.
10I like the original better.
11I cannot stand the smell of this and it's a basic lip balm to me... My bf also is repulsed by it. He wouldn't let me kiss him at all with this on. It smells like old honey. The original is always the best.
12Ugh, this sh*t is disgusting. Even if you do like the original, this one is gross. Also the pomegranate one, while delivering a slightly subtle rosy tint, also has a weirdo gross-out flavor/smell.
13I love the original Burt's Bees formula in the little tin. I tried the honey formula a while ago and it was grainy. Maybe I just got a bad tube, but it totally turned me off. As far as honey formula beeswax-based chapsticks, I also like Lypsyl.
14Not a fan!
15I really like the honey lip balm. It's different than the original, but in a very good way.
16Disagree! Too strong of a product...Something about the scent makes it terrible.
17The scent reminds me of incense -- heavy church incense. I like the way it makes my lips feel, but the smell really puts me off.
18Haven't tried this one, but I love the original. And most Burt's Bees products in general.
19I tried the original and didn't like it much, it doesn't go on smooth.
20My favorite's Say Yes to Carrot's and Kiss My Face's organic lipbalms, both under $4. They have similar consistency that won't turn into white goo that sticks around the corners or lipline. Kiss my face has SPF 15 which sadly the Carrot one lacks.
For the tiniest hint of color, Avon lipsavers and Smith's Rosebus salve are great
I love the way it makes my lips feel.
21I love this chapstick too. The honey really soothes my lips and it feels so natural. My best friend, however, hates the smell of it and forbids me to use it when she is around. She even bought me a Blistex chapstick to use instead of my Burt's when she is with me. She says it smells terrible. I don't notice the smell at all. I think it smells natural and yummy. I still use it a lot, although I am conscious about the smell now when I use it in public.
22I have all three...regular, honey and pomegranate. I love the regular and pomegranate, because I bought the honey, I do use it, keep it in my desk at work...but the smell is awful. I have very, very flaky lips...hard to keep them soft and moist. The BEST product I've ever found though, is called Younger Lips. I bought it at Sally Beauty Supply. It absolutely is the best when it comes to softening my lips and getting rid of the peeling effect.
23Ugh, I am so not a fan of honey-scented products. But I do love Burt's Bees. I'll stick with the original mint or pomegranate lip balms though.
24Seether, I have a tube of the honey sort that's grainy too. Little cream-ish colored bits in it?
Personally, I don't mind the smell, but I do far prefer the original to this. I also don't use much lip balm at a time (I rub it in with a finger to keep it from just coming off at a whim), so that might be part of why it doesn't bug me much.
25I bought this stuff and it's gross. My friend who loves the original and only uses BB wouldn't even use it when she was desperate.
26Never been a huge fan, I'd rather just buy chapstick if I want something along these lines-much cheaper and works just as great.
27LOVE the Honey! Use it all the time, love the smell and my lips are so smooth!
28the honey is ok. not fond of the smell or texture really. I prefer the original.
29I personally really like this lip balm. I know a lot of ppl said that they like the original better but I can't wear lip balms w. any sort of tingling sensation - they irratate my skin and cause a rash. This balm is very soothing and moisturizing. Also very easily accessible for those times when you forget your lip balm at home and need to pick one up on the go. Good call on this pick - 2 thumbs up!!
30I got this chapstick in the fourpack with two originals and one pomegranate. I really enjoy all of them but this one. The smell is sickening to me, I can't stand it at all.
31In fact, the smell is so repulsive to me that I can't even tell you if it works or not!
