Back in the 80's Barbie had a line of kiddie cosmetics I remember quite well. Then, in 2007, MAC released a Barbie-themed makeup collection. And now? The fashion doll is about to dabble in the cosmetics realm again with a recently announced collaboration with Stila.
According to WWD, the limited-edition collection will launch next month at Sephora stores (including international locations and online) and Sephora's Fifth Avenue store in New York. Just in time to celebrate the fashion doll's 50th birthday, the fun and flirty collection will include four "Decades of Beauty" cans ($40): Ponytail Doll, which commemorates the first Barbie in 1959; Malibu Barbie, from 1971; Foxy Doll, in honor of the first African-American doll released in 1980; and Jewel Doll, from 2000.
Also in the works . . . those nifty talking palettes from Stila — Barbie style, of course — a Barbie fashion show featuring Stila products at New York Fashion Week next month, and a Barbie beauty program/expanded collection for Fall 2009. Way to keep it going for half a century, Miss Barbie.

I'll pass...
1Eh...not that interested. I love Stila (a lot!), but those colors don't look like they're for me. I loved the Barbie collection that MAC did a couple of years ago though!
2eI had/have that Black barbie doll. The colors will work well for me, the Ponytail and Malibu collections, probably not so much.
3This launch reminds me of the Too Faced Smurfette collection, and I think that one is a lot cuter.
4It's interesting that they chose to include a black Barbie since Stila's brand logos only uses variations of white women, even though they claim to market to all women. But uh, Foxy? Yeah.
I believe the first black doll in the line was Christie, but she was just a friend (not a real Barbie) and didn't have a fro. I guess using her wouldn't have the same effect.
5Too bad no one teams up with Blythe.
6Wow, I think I'm in love.
7I love Stila and (secretly) love Barbie.
I'm not too crazy about it. Having a dark, but not very dark, yet not medium skin tone really limited the type of shadows I could wear. Brown of ANY shade is not one of them. Also, that lip color looks a bit too orange. Let's just hope that's just the picture!
8Well i'm excited about it because I completely missed out on the Barbie MAC collection which i've never forgiven myself for. Wish they could use one of the latina Barbies though! Theresa was it?
9I'm with soap box on this one, lets hope it just the picture...BTW Soapbox, if you have any recommendations for make up for black skin please let me know, thanks!
10Ooh. I really like the idea, and since I missed out on Barbie Loves MAC, I'll probably grab one or two of the cans from Stila...
11I'm interested to see the Pony Tail and Malibu colors.
12CoCo Aylese:
I like copper tones like MAC Amberlights for myself 'cause I have warmer undertones. But on my friend who has cold undertones, MAC woodwinked does the trick. (Though both colors works for anyone) And personally, I think that berry colors are also good. I use Cranberry Frost by MAC and always get compliments.
13I actually like the orange toned lip gloss, but I realize orange tones aren't good on everyone.
also, wow, does the black barbie have to be named foxy? Makes me think of old school blacksploitation movies. lols
14I still haven't tried anything from Stila, and this collections looks like a good place to start.
That and I'm kicking myself for missing the Barbie Loves MAC collection... this won't make up for it, but close enough!
15Ok, so I like the concept of this collection - celebrating the different milestones of Barbie and their attempt to broaden w. different races and all but Stila - african american = FOXY?! It def. harkens to thee blacksploitation genre. NOT GOOD at all.
16Love Stila but probably won't purchase from this collection.
