At the risk of taking the bullet train to TMI City, I loathe bikini waxing. It is the Sisyphean task of my beauty regimen: I wax, the hair returns, I wax again. On and on it goes.
For a while, I got a $35 wax from a really sweet lady... until I noticed that she was double-dipping the waxing stick. Since I'm a clean freak, I've decided to wax less often but go to a better place. Ergo, I de-fuzz with the bikini wax at Bliss spas, where double-dipping is strictly verboten. Plus, it's shockingly not painful to be waxed here. Bliss has its own special wax that is the closest thing to pain-free ladyparts grooming that I've experienced. It doesn't stick to the skin, but it grabs even the smallest hairs. So one quick rip, and that's all you need. During my weekend bikini wax, at one point I literally didn't feel the wax pulling my hairs out. Score!
If you don't live near a Bliss spa, or you'd like to save a few bucks, check out the waxing kit ($45). It contains the same wax and tools that the pros use, and I've had success using it at home. (Not for Brazilians, though; there are some things that are too tricky for me.) Along with the Completely Bare kit, it's the best at-home option for a minimally painful wax.

I don't think I could do it at home and have it not be a disaster. Ha.
1good call, aimeeb... i swore off at-home wax after an ex once tried to help (with disastrous results, obvi!) some things are best left to the pros!!
2ow this subject makes me hurt.
3this is the worst thing about bikini season
How much does a wax at Bliss spa run?
4Partysugar — they range from $35 to $70 (for a Brazilian). A little pricier than the corner waxing place, but totally worth it to me because of the ambiance, cleanliness, and lack of pain.
Aimeeb, I bet you could wax at home if you just did a regular bikini wax. I tried doing more than that, and yes, that was disastrous.
5I wish that I had a bliss nearby...has anyone tried the nono for bikini area?
6Hanako66, here's some nono coverage. It isn't meant for the bikini area.
7i've tried the poetic wax on my own and lets just say there was blue wax everywhere. definitely not for me. i'd like to try a waxing at their spa though but i can't afford it at the moment. i have had success with the sally hansen waxing strips, where the wax is on plastic strips that you rub together to heat up and then wax. its good for extending the length of a professional wax cause you can use it when the first few hairs grow in
8what is this mysterious double dipping thing you talk of?
9i googled it and you know i never thought it was something bad, though i have never had a wax. so why is it so awful? it was all you right? not from previous customer?
10I've never waxed either Allytta, but I'm curious to try it out. Perhaps I'll invest some funds into one of the kits OR try the DIY that Bella posted last year:)
11Allytta, no — it's not all you. Some places dip the stick in wax that has been used on previous clients. Do not want!
12I wax myself all the time at home, but I use Zip wax. It's 8 bucks at drugstore.com. I get wonderful, nearly pain free results.
13yeah...i think i'll leave that to a professional =]
14So which do you think works the best, the Bliss Poetic or the Completely Bare?(as in the least irritation, least pain, etc... ) I read the 7/23/07 posting that recommended the Completely Bare over the Poetic
15I went to Bliss in SoHO and they DOUBLE DIPPED!!!! It was SO NOT worth the extra money to go here.
