I never thought of Natalie Portman as being too over-the-top crazy with her hair, makeup, or outfit choices. So I'm somewhat surprised to see her wearing bold, bright yellow nail polish. I guess it's not too outlandish. Pantone, the company responsible for predicting color trends in the home and fashion industries, did predict that the bright and sunny shade of mimosa would be the color of 2009, after all.
As for the polish, I'm not sure if I've embraced its hue quite yet, but I'm digging how Natalie chose to wear it with a crisp white shirt, simple blazer, and dark denim. This shade harkens back to the punky days of the late '70s and early '80s — skinny jeans and black and white striped t-shirt included. Thinking yellow might be in your forecast? I love funky-colored polish, but yellow would be one of my last choices.
I've been wanting to try yellow nail polish for some time now but I'd prefer a pale, softer yellow methinks.
I have Nicole OPI's yellow shade, was wearing it all last year (well, for most of the summer, anyway). And it did cause a lot of people to comment...and confused a lot of older people too:)
I get yellow polished fingernails every May for my bday... its like, my thing... I don't want it to be trendy :[
I get my toes done yellow throughout the spring/summer as well, but its different for finger nails... thats like.. bold.
Whenever I wear my Essie Shorty Pants I always get comments - usually more positive than negative. I love it, but I too would love a soft, pale yellow polish. Wish I could find one.
I had a pale banana-esq yellow color years ago... man,i wish i remember who made it so i could tell you!
Sephora by OPI in Cab Fare is great. I have it and it's a bit sparkly yellow. So cheerful! I have to say that these yellow tones look best on my hands. When I painted my toenails with the yellow it looked horrific, like I had some toenail fungus.
I don't really like yellow on my nails. I guess the colour reminds me too much of yellow, unhealthy nails. =/
yea ... yellow nail polish is just one of those colors that I wouldn't try. Maybe a pale yellow with sparkles as someone said, or with some gold... that could be nice.
EW - I think this looks terrible.
Yellow? Interesting...however, I don't think the shade will work with all skin tones.
I like it.
Looks like she has jaundice in her nails - or that she has neon smoker's nails! BLEH!
Not the shade for me I'm afraid. Though I have worn a very sheer sparkly dull gold before. That looked fantastic.
I don't really like yellow nails. It kinda makes people look sick, IMO. Maybe a different shade will work, though.
Lately, I've been into all things nail polish/art and I'm totally surprised this doesn't pique my interest at all.
Yellow is my favorite color! Natalie can pull it as a nail color, but I don't think I ever could.
So very bright. I love it!
No thanks.
I don't mind funky nail polish, though I usually reserve certain colors for my toes. I've worn anything from white, icy blue, black, you name it.
Yes, I'd wear yellow nails, I love that shade Natalie is sporting.
I hate it.
Not sure I would sport yellow nails. Maybe for fun on the weekend or something but I don't think my work would appreciate the bold color!
I love Essie's Shorty Pants! I bought the shade last year and I actually had it on a few weeks ago until one of my bosses gave me an "are you serious?" look. Off it came :/. I USUALLY receive positive comments though. It is really nicely banana bright yellow against my brown tanned skin. I do agree though, it's not for all races/skin tones as it can look like a fungus. Natalie does pull it off though!
i wear it last month while in Berlin and i actually like it... once i get over my black polish i will try yellow again
That's so 80's...guess I could do it, again. Is BIG hair coming back, too?
My nails are yellow! Seriously its a fun summer color my fingers and toes
I just canNOT get down with the yellow. It is wrong, smoker's nails.
