Welcome back to my five-part series on Fantastic Facial Creams for your skin type. (What skin type do you have? Tell me here.) Yesterday, I gave you the best face lotions for oily skin, and today, we'll explore face creams for dry skin.
There are actually two kinds of dry skin: oil dry and water dry. Oil dry means that you don't have enough oil in your skin, so you'll want to use a cream that contains natural oils. Water dry means that your skin is dehydrated and typically manifests itself in fine lines all over your face. If this is your skin type, drink plenty of water and look for a product with a humectant. Here are my recommendations for both types of dry skin.
Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion ($9.89) is formulated to soothe and nourish water-dry skin. It has an oil-free, fragrance-free, and non-greasy texture, and it contains humectants that enrich your skin with moisture. It's also great for sensitive skin, since it contains no irritation-causing lanolins or parabens.

Kiss My Face Lavender & Shea Butter Moisturizer ($4) is a body and face lotion in one. It contains calming lavender as well as shea butter, which will help cure and soothe oil-dry skin.
Estee Lauder Resilience Lift Extreme Ultra Firming Creme for Very Dry Skin ($70) is great if you aren't sure which type of dry skin you have. It's rich in nutrients and will help moisturize tired skin that needs a lift. It gives your face a shiny, healthy glow, and it contains SPF 15 for sun protection. Use in the morning and in the evening, and within four weeks, you should see notice younger-looking skin.

Just got some of this at the shopping event Shecky's Girl's Night Out in my goodie bag. My skin said: Thank You!
1This stuff is great! My dad is a pharmacist and he uses this lotion when he has to make prescription lotions. their cleanser is also really great.
2cetaphil, i'm sorry.
3My skin is quite dry, so I wash my face in nothing but Cetaphil. Their lotion is thoroughly mositurizing and not the least bit irritating to my semi-sensitive skin.
4im not too keen on usuing cetaphil
its not my fave.
5i have dry, very sensitive skin and what works best for me is to apply an essential oil blend of rose and orange oils after i've washed my face and before i apply moisturizer. those oils help the moisturizer to be more effective and last longer since my skin tends to be very thirsty regardless of how much water i drink.
6I am a Cetaphil nut! It's the only thing that doesn't bother my skin.
7Avene's products are great for sensitive and dry skins like mine
8I just switched to Cetaphil cleansers and lotion. They have a day lotion with spf 15 too.
9I'm pretty sure this isn't oil free
10i use cetaphil lotion only on my face, but it gives my body skin this weird texture (it's not greasy, but its just weird i absolutely cannot describe it, and got even more weird when i sweat, yeah, i know, gross)...i try aquaphor, but its too thick and greasy (i only use it on patches)...maybe my skin is oil dry, so i'll try kiss my face. thanks!!
11I like all of the Cetaphil products.
12My favorite is Dr.Hauschka's Rose Day Cream. I just tried Rose Day Cream Light, which is great for summer!!
13I have dry, sensitive skin and I love to wash my face with either Sanitas Lemon Cream Cleanser or Philosophy's Purity Cleanser as both are gentle and leave my skin feeling super moist and ready to soak up the serum and moisture mist to reveal fully hydrated skin. Never greasy, but always dewy even in the arid climate of Denver.
