Today's user review comes from WhiplashGirlchild, who graciously shared her thoughts on Spackle by Laura Geller ($21.50) last week in the Beauty Product Junkies group. (Write your own reviews in the group, and I might post yours on BellaSugar too!) Here's what Whiplash had to say:
About a year ago, maybe more, I purchased Laura Geller Spackle makeup primer from QVC. It came in a jar like the one on the left, but if you buy it from Sephora, it comes in a pump like this:

I used Spackle pretty religiously until I got my Bare Escentuals starter kit, and then I started using the BE BareVitamins Skin Rev-er Upper ($21) instead. So this morning, I decided to experiment. I put on my moisturizer as usual, and then put the Spackle on one side of my face and the Rev-er Upper on the other side. For the verdict, read more
Both make my skin feel soft, but the Spackle made my pores look just a little bit smaller, although you can't really tell with the naked eye. But when I looked with my magnifying mirror, I could tell that my skin looked slightly better with the Laura Geller Spackle. Plus, it feels light; it's oil-free, so it's not greasy; and it dries quickly.
I recommend the Spackle, but if you find something cheaper that you're happy with, I'd stick with it. Like I said, there's a difference, but it's not that dramatic.

Go Whip!
1I use this and I LOVE it!
2I've heard good stuff about this before, thanks for the review.
3Haha, Spackle is such an unfortunate name! Oh well, it still sounds like a great product. I've never tried a makeup primer because I've got acne and I'm worried about making it worse. Maybe its about time, though...
4Oh, I'm definitely going to try this. I use Smashbox now and really like it, but it's a little pricey.
5this is my life saveing prouduct-my all time fave-every girl sould have it-makes you glow but not in a greasy way-she also does a brill illuminating powder called optmil which is equaly as good x
6Ok well for one thing, maybeif you read the directions and used the product PROPERLY you might have gotten different results. You are using 2 products that are completely different to try and get the sam result. Bare Vitamins is NOT a primer! It clearely says on the packaging that is an exfoliating lotion and is meant to be used on a clean dry face, UNDER a moisurizer. Using on top of your moisturizer certainly reduces its effectiveness. If you'd really like to challenge Spackle, I suggest using Bare Escentuals *new* primer, Prime Time.
7Hey girl, try using them together and you will have even better results! The bare vitamins are actually a treament product meant to be used under moisturizer to even out skintone and texture and brighten the complexion. Follow up with moisturizer and your spackle, which not only primes the skin for foundation but makes a barrier to seal in your skin care products as well! Take advantage of the benefits of both, and definately read the instructions next time!
8Never knew that about the bare vitamins. Just got a kit and wondered about using my primer with it and when to apply it. Thanks for the info.
