As you know, I am a big fan of my Clarisonic, even putting it in places where the sun don't shine. And judging by the number of glowing reviews from readers, they're loving it, too. Reader Lovelie says it's all about finding the right cleanser:
I will admit that I had some problems with the Clarisonic when I first got it. I was using a really harsh cleanser with it and ended up overstimulating my skin and breaking out . . . BADLY! For the last few years, I have been plagued with blackheads under the skin but no acne. Well after using the Clarisonic with my MdForte cleanser, I had acne. It was terrible. So I stopped using it for a while, let my skin heal, and switched cleansers to a gentler cleanser, Philosophy Purity. Well, this was the magic combination, because my skin has clarified itself to a point that it hasn't been in years. Stubborn blackheads that wouldn't BUDGE pre-Clarisonic made their way to the surface where eventually they just popped out. My conclusion is that you have to pick the right cleanser to go along with this.
For the record, I agree; using a glycolic cleanser with Clarisonic was a bit much, but a gentle cleanser worked wonders. BTW, it's the last day of our $500 gift certificate giveaway from Benefit. i just got one for my birthday last week (in part due to bella's recommendation -- thanks for the tip!), and i already see a difference in my skin's texture. love it.
1I really need to try this!
2I love my clarisonic...I also use purity at night with it and have had wonderful results!
3I almost caved in and bought it last week. I have great skin but all the hype made me want one. After much concideration I figured I'd keep the money and splurge on a pair of killer heels for spring/summer instead. My La Mer cleansers do a great job so I am just going to stick to my regiment.
4Try Philosophy Purity and a regular $3 skin brush (mine is from Sephora) before you get the clarisonic. As soon as I started with my cheapy skin brush, my skin changed drastically! Super clear, luminous, and smooth!
5I really want a clarisonic. Been wanting one since last year. Told hubby I wanted it for Mother's Day but he forgot and I didn't bring it up again because I felt so guilty for asking for it since it's such an expensive luxury item. but I may need to rethink this again.
6thanks for the recommendation angel! i am going to give this a shot.
i don't have the cash for a clarisonic right now, but definitely want the results.
7any other cheap suggestions are appreciated, lol!
8I was going to recommend the same thing as angel. It works just as well. I've always thought the Clarisonic was a huge waste of money.
9will totally try the brush idea before splurging. thanks!
