I'm delighted to introduce a new feature called Bella Donna, where we pay tribute to beauty icons through the ages. A Bella Donna could be an actress, a model, or another prominent historical or modern figure. The only requirement is that she have a distinct and influential look. (Got an idea for a Bella Donna post? Tell me below.)
Since bob haircuts are back in full force, I thought we should take a moment to admire Louise Brooks, the silent film actress who put severe short haircuts on the map. Best known for her breakthrough role in 1929's Pandora's Box, Brooks' blunt-cut bangs and high-shine dark hair set off a nationwide trend. Perfectly manicured brows, pale skin, and dark velvety lips finished off her stunning look. In 1938, Brooks retired from Hollywood at a young age, and it's said that she was later discovered working at a sales clerk at Saks.

Audrey Hepburn is the ultimate Bella Donna. She is still a style and beauty icon today. She was so basic and beautiful. She was always beautifully groomed and never looked like she was wearing a ton of make up.
1yesssssssssss... i love her! this is so much better than the dumb model of the week. some other suggestions: rita hayworth, lauren bacall, audrey hepburn (duh), iman, penelope tree, liza minelli, dolly parton, stevie nicks, debbie harry...
2love it! since summer is in full force, how about bo derek? iconic beach beauty
3OOOOOOOOOOOOO Can we please do Grace Kelly... The American Princess, well she actually was the Princess of Monaco but anywho. I love her!
4How about Hedy Lamarr? Besides being gorgeous and full of style, she was also a smarty-pants who invented and patented technology that is now indispensable for wireless communication. Brains can be beautiful, too.
5Greta Garbo pls!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Freaking awesome!!!
Katherine Hepburn
was the ultimate cool, she made pants the thing for women to wear in those days.
6I concur with krampalicious this is better then model of the week
This new Bella Donna feature is fantastic! I can't wait for more to come. Louise Brooks' look was so unique; who else could pull off that bob? Very few I think. My favorite picture from above is the fourth one in, on the top row, where she's pressed up against the wall in that quasi-African print dress. STunning!!
Liza and Kramp, I love your suggestions.
7Katharine Hepburn, Audrey Hepburn, and Hedy Lamarr! Oh, and great choice of Louise Brooks.
8This is a wonderful idea for a feature Bella!
My ideas are Jean Harlow, Clara Bow, Rita Hayworth, Ginger Rogers, Betty Grable, and my personal favorite, Hedy Lamarr. But I love everyone else's! I'm so excited to read more on this feature!
9Oh yeah, for historical figures, why not someone like Cleopatra or Marie Antoinette, or Jackie Onassis?
10I lurv me this idea! I 2nd/3rd/4th the Audrey Hepburn suggestion, also Bette Davis, Katherine Hepburn and i like UrbanBohemian's suggestion of Jackie O.
11im sorry urbanbohemia, but you are aware that marie antoinette didnt look like kirsten dunst at all, arent you?in fact she was quite ugly. google it and you´ll see it. or maybe is just your opinion, and in that case ,i respect it..
12what about marilyn monroe?i know its quite obvious but she was gorgeous..
13How about Nefertiti? She was absolutely stunning!b
14Fifaxita, I listed Marie Antoinette down as a historical figure. She may not be someone you find beautiful, but I think that profiling a woman from a distant period would be interesting as well a departure from typical blogs about celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Jessica Alba. That is your opinion and you can stick to it. I knew that other people would select the usual suspects, like Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe (as I see you have), but I thought it would be a worty recommendation to add historical figures who are not from Hollywood as Bella suggested.
And by the way, I think Kirsten Dunst is quite unattractive. As you can see, beauty is clearly in the eye of the beholder.
