I love body polishes that don't require excess force to work, particularly ones that use sugar, which is gentler on the skin. Over the weekend, I tried out St. Ives Moisturizing In-Shower Exfoliating Body Polish, Oatmeal & Shea Butter ($8), which contains natural sugar crystals for exfoliation, oatmeal to soothe, and shea butter for softer skin. While this polish is a little difficult to scoop out of the jar due to its texture (think of a dense Crisco), once it hits the skin and some water, it almost melts, creating a rich, spreadable lather.
The polish has a sweet almond scent and a finer, more dissolvable grit than the famous invigorating St. Ives Apricot Scrub ($4). Before shaving, I spread a little of the polish on my legs for a smooth, non-irritating result.
I like it for a pedicure, too. After scrubbing my feet with the body polish, I used my beauty shortcut to fake a real pedicure. A little goes a long way with this product, making for an affordable — and effective — drugstore find.

I have this, but for me it's not nearly exfoliating enough. Rather than act like a normal scrub, I find that the sugar dissolves in the water, so rather than clean and freshly exfoliated, I end up feeling like there's a thin film over my skin...
1I will stick with my at home sugar scrub I make.
2Sounds pretty decent, but I'm trying my best to stick with eco-friendly skincare products.
3I love their St. Ives apricot scrubs, so I really want to try this out!
4how do you use it? just your hands? or loofah? cause when i use loofah the grains just sink into it, and when i use washcloth it doesn't foam at all, so i end up using half the bottle/tub.
5I use just my hands, Allytta.
6For my once-a-week exfoliation, I turn the hot water on for the shower and close the shower curtain and let it steam up a bit, but I don't get my skin wet. While I steam up, I use the exfoliator to slough off more dead skin than if my skin is already plumped up from the water. Its so invigorating.
7oh Devious that sounds like a great idea !
8i love love love this product! i use it once a week on my feet and legs. they stay soft for days. i even used it on my underarms...although my underarms aren't dry..but i thought, "what the hay..can't hurt" and it made them tv ready i swear! i'm recommending this to all my gal pals. after i use it i follow up with a peppermint plum foot/leg lotion.
