How-To: Learn a Lace Braid
We're all about the braiding sessions here at Sugar HQ —
fishtail,
four-strand, and now a lace braid. This style can be created with French (or
Dutch) plaits with one small change: you only add new pieces of hair to one section of the braid. Since we just made an impromptu "salon," I was only working with two bobby pins and no comb. It's not pulled as tightly as you'd want — for say, a night on the town — but get the same idea with these steps.

Thanks for the tip!
For some reason, my sister can do this to her own hair. But when I try, it always gets messed up. LOL.
1thanks! I'm going to try this one right now.
2I wish I could sneak away from my desk and do this right now!
3soo pretty!
4I suck at braiding my own hair unless it is pigtails...
5Great tutorial, thanks! (and that lady has gorgeous hair!)
I'll have to give this another try - I usually always end up with a braid that's considerably thicker at the end than at the start, to the point it's not pretty. I'm obviously missing something.
6Thanks! I'll try this
7I love the step by step instructions. Please do more of these. They're great. Also, I'm trying this on my hair tomorrow.
8Thanks for this, Bella--SO helpful! I can't wait to try it. I really love braids, and this one style is one of my favorites.
9Thanks! I've been wanting a tutorial since Drew Barrymore did it so beautifully a few weeks ago!
10I'll have to try this. I've tried this before and it seems to mess up. I'll try the ear to ear and report back. French braids look so great and if done right stay put. But my arms & fingers hurt after a while :/
11I've been loving all the braiding tutorials, Bella. I have always loved braids but, for a while, nobody seemed to be wearing them. For my super-long thick hair, it's a fun way to manage the "poof" and keep me from my usual boring style (up in a bun).
12Interesting. I may have to try it out this weekend, it's very pretty.
13argh. i thought it was how to incorporate lace/ribbons into a braid, which i desperately want to learn but keep messing up -.-
14Thanks for all the braiding tutorials. They're great -- please keep them coming!
15Thanks! Love it, I am so obsessed over braiding my hair right now.

21hm... funny
22ahh i love this hairstyle, i wear it loads and i always get compliments that it looks lovely, its really easy too when you get the hang of it and keeps all your hair off your face for work and things.
23mm. informative )
24love love
25Omg, this was so helpful! I tried to do it on my own but added hair on the left side of my head, preventing me from achieving the lace effect!
