Some people eat madeleines and zoom back to childhood. Me? I paint my nails for that Proustian moment. While at Walgreens last week, I spotted a display of Revlon nail polish. But this wasn't any nail polish. Nope, this was scented nail polish in eight bright colors that remind me of Kool-Aid. (Oh yeah!)
When the polish is applied, there's nothing remotely fruity about the scent — just the unpleasant and familiar smell of varnish. When dry, however, the polish reveals a chemically "fruity" scent almost identical to that of the Mr. Sketch scented markers I played with as a kid. Just one whiff of my freshly manicured nails transported me back to my marker-sniffing days. That was fun for a moment, but my nose is extremely sensitive, so I had a nasty headache within 15 minutes. (I'll use the polish only for pedicures from here on out.) As long as you can handle a little fake-fruit smell, the polish's $4.50 price is an extremely budget-friendly way to feel like a kid again.

oh i wish i saw this yesterday at walgreens!!! i bought a nailpolish there too, a silver one but i wouldve gotten a fruity one as well since its BOGO this week!

6I don't know that I'd like the fruity scent, but I LOVE the color pictured. I hate spending a load on nail polishes because I always chip it off, so budget friendly buys are always a must.
7I remember nail polish that smelled like perfume after it dried! It wasn't a Revlon brand, but a topcoat that smelled like Calvin Klein's Eternity perfume after it dried. They had other perfume options as well. It only lasted for 15 minutes but it was a cool little idea.
