Vibrating mascaras are all the buzz. And now, Maybelline's entering the growing segment of unique lash-enhancing products with the upcoming release of its newest product, Define-a-Lash Pulse Perfection ($15). The battery-powered mascara is the first of its kind in the drugstore category, and will officially debut in July. At 7,000 vibrations per minute, the movement of the brush is designed to mimic the zig-zag motion that a professional makeup artist might use.
Available in two washable shades (Very Black and Blackest Black) and one waterproof shade (Very Black), this mascara carries with it a battery life lasting for a minimum of 130 applications, or over four months. That's just in time to make it under the three-month expiration mark, eh? To see what I thought of the new product, just read more.
Much like our Sugar intern's take on Spinlash ($20 for two), I found Pulse Perfection somewhat awkward to use. You don't need an extremely skillful, steady hand to use the brush properly, but you do need to move quickly and lightly, as a slow, deliberate application provided too much product on the lashes and lids, creating clumpy results.
While my under-eye area remained flake-free with practically no smudging by the end of the day, the product created very long, spindly lashes with a slightly shiny finish, similar to the brand's newer Lash Stiletto Mascara. If you're going more for length than volume, and if you're intrigued by the novelty of it all, you might like this mascara. However, I'm sure you're perfectly capable of creating that zig-zag action sans batteries. What's your take?

Very Black and Blackest Black???? Hmmmm
1i got an email from walgreens saying that these would be on sale for one preview day only yesterday i think but i already have so many mascaras right now that i decided not to go for it. maybe ill look into it after my mascaras are done, since it seems like a decent cheaper d/s alternative to dept store versions
2Ehhhh, $15 mascara... hmm. I will pass until more people buy it and give feedback. The wand looks like their other define a lash brushes. I use the volume version, but I can never use lengthening or I would look rediculous. I bought Lash Stiletto and don't like the scent at all.
3I got the Lancome one for free, and it's okay, so I use it. Most of the time I apply it without activating the vibration and it seems to work better that way. I still like my $14 Clinique High Impact better than that one, despite all the bells and whistles and sky high price tag. I'm unlikely to buy a Maybelline one that's more expensive than Clinique.
4eh, i think it is tres stupido
5i'm afraid to try this. vibrating mascara? why would i need it? i just imagine i'd smudge all over from the vibrating, or am i just imagining it vibrating too violently...
6Do you think you could post a video of you using it?
I'm not sure I understand how
it works....
7i want it !
8How hard is it to move a mascara wand in a zig zag motion? I do it all the time and do not have to pay $15 for a wand to do it for me
9Why on earth do you want to put something that vibrates in your eye? This is stupid and gimmicky.
10$15? nuh uh, i'm not paying that for drugstore mascara. I'll just tape my wand to an old vibrating toothbrush... or a vibrator.
haha, jk.
11:rofl: that's all
12Walgreens is going to have a special promo price for the Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara 12.99 along with the new color sensational lipstick for 5.49 at the Saturdate July 18th 2009
13i bought this today and i really like it. it made my lashes look really good and the vibrating action helps. my lashes look long and i have to say i was nervous at first to try it but now that i did i love it.
14I bought this just for the fun of trying something new, and I like it. It takes about 3 seconds to get the hang of it, but then it's super easy to use. I curl my lashes and then apply two coats of this mascara. My lashes look twice as long as they are. I bought the waterproof version and it removes easily with vaseline and a tissue.
15I just bought it 7/27 and had never heard of it. At first I thought $13 for mascara - I didn't even knew it vibrated. I was pleasantly surprised and love it so far. The vibration helps but it does take a bit to get use to it. I bought the waterproof and it comes off easily with baby oil. So far so good for me! woohoo
16Just bought a tube yesterday, and I am NOT happy with it. I love the Mabelline mascara, but this vibrating wand is way too messy for me to use. Can't believe I was dumb enough to spend that much money on it.
17I bought this mascara yesterday and have used it twice. I love it. It makes my lashes long and I haven't had any clumping. At first I poked myself in the eye though...
18i just bought this 15 dollar mascara..and i like the vibrating but its not what i was expecting its funky haha... it doesn't separate them like it should for the price some mild clumping ..... but i just use the eye lash brush and im good to go .... i love it i also like the lash blast luxe and since i have hazel eyes i got the emerald one wayyyy better mascara but with out the vibrator..... so i might just use the maybelline brush with the lash blast mascara
19I bought it and thought it was very awkward to use as well. There's a button on the end of the wand that you hold to make it vibrate. The end result in good but they should make it a twist wand to vibrate because it's difficult to hold that button while applying your mascara. It's does apply a little too much mascara at one time. I had it all over the place and now roate using my regular mascara with that.
