there's a beauty school near my office, you can ask for people that are close to graduating and just need the hours for their license. I got the most complimented haircut i've ever had for
$5, and they do $5 mani/pedi's too.
(when i first went there to get my hair cut, I panicked at that first snip, but it came out awesome)
seriously, i've never had a professional makeover or a manicure that i couldn't have done just as well if not better than myself for free. pedicures, however, are worth every penny.
I have acrylics so it's usually $12 a fill, which includes a nail clean-up and paintjob. There are tons of cheap nail places around the college campus but I personally don't trust them. Nail fungus doesn't sound fun! I'd rather pay a little extra and know I'm going
to a clean, reputable salon.
I used to spend $25 a week on mani/pedi. But in recent years I like the buffed look and I do that myself. I purchased a manicure kit with lotion and one of those 4 way buffers. I get so many
compliments on my nails and they look really healthy!
I would love to be able to get a manicure but my nail beds are soooo sensitive I can't even use clipper and they're sore after filing. I got acrylics once for a wedding (bride forced me to)
and I could hardly use my hands for a day! My nails hurt just thinking about it!!!
i go to the nail place for pedis- the spa a couple times a year for the pampering and the cheapie place more often for the polish. as for manicures- i'm not very good with keeping them good
so i rarely go- a few times a year when i have an occasion, so then i usually spend like 15 or 20 bucks on it!
I have actually never had a mani or pedi. Can you believe it?! I guess my reasoning has always been that sports keeps me from caring too much about how my nails look.
For me, it's faster, more relaxing and easier to have someone else do it plus a professional pedi normally last me 3-4 weeks. It's great not having to worry about wearing flip flops or
sandals. I also walk 12-15 miles/week and do pilates and yoga so the pedi is my treat for my feet.
I do my own most of the time, but when I do go for a mani/pedi, I happily pay more to go to a clean-looking place. I have friends who go to the icky places for cheap, but I just can't do it.
Ick.
A pedicure is worth $25+, but for a manicure? No more than $15 is my rule, I just got a mani-pedi yesterday for $20 bucks and they look wonderful. I feel like it all depends on how blessed
you were with your nails, some people are really good at up-keeping their own nails... others are not, and therefore always spend on mani+pedis, I can go either way, my at home pedicures just
give me a backache but when i do them at home they look pretty darn good
I inherited the ability to grow long nails, so I have never understood the act of gluing fake ones on. And as far as manis, doing my own are therapeutic (and also forces me to sit still)!
i've never had a mani or a pedi, even for high school dances! i can't believe it! if i could go back, i'd definitely do it. my friend wants to take me for my first next week. i just fear that
it's a nice chunk of change that i could spend on something i'd enjoy more, like clothes or coffee haha. or, ya know, save it for tuition. plus, my nails look fab when i let them grow
out...i've always had them short for sports though!
Over $30 easily. Though, I do the mani/pedi combo, so it's around $50. I'm a perfecionist, so my nails have to look good. But I don't trust salons so I have my own tools & polish and
bring it with me.

Kristin Cavallari turned one of her favorite Summer shirts into in a perfect Fall layering piece as she demonstrated here on her way to the Trina Turk boutique in LA. She paired this plaid button down with a gray tank, a black miniskirt, tights, and some suede Christian Louboutin ankle boots.

2I go just to get my cuticle's cleaned up... and to have someone else paint my nails.

5People always think I have fake nails on or spend a ton at the salon but the truth is I have never worn them and I do my own nails at home.
6ya'll have it good. i think it's more expensive where I live. Just the pedicure itself costs $25, and that's cheap.
7i have trouble sitting still for that long so i jsut do it at home for free. i spend so much on everything else i need to save a little somewhere
8i never PAY for a mani because i know in a day it'lll be scratched off

10Geez, you guys are lucky, a mani/pedi combo is about $45 out here...luckily/unluckily I have extremely ticklish feet so I can't do pedi's...
11I do both my mani and pedi myself at home.
12I would love to be able to get a manicure but my nail beds are soooo sensitive I can't even use clipper and they're sore after filing. I got acrylics once for a wedding (bride forced me to) and I could hardly use my hands for a day! My nails hurt just thinking about it!!!
13A waste of money - do it yourself!
14The most I'd spent was $50 and that was b/c I went to one of those trendy places in NYC but usually I pay $15
15I can usually get a mani/pedi for $35 where I live.
16I like my nails short, and darker in the winter- pinkish/corals in the summer and I can do that on my own.
But a pedicure- oh thats just wonnnnderful.

20i'm all for pedicures. i think it is healthy for your toenails. mine always grow better and look nicer after two pedis.
21I got a french manicure done a couple of weeks ago for an event and it cost me €28. I almost had to be resuscitated!!
22When I lived in NYC I would get a mani for 9-12 bucks! Now that I live in Ohio they are all 16-20. It's killing me to pay $20 for a mediocre manicure.

25I'd spend $15 to $30, it's worth it and those people doing nails do deserve to get that kind of money each day.

27I do my own at home. I've never had a manicure but I wouldn't be opposed to it for a treat. Maybe the hubby will do that for me.

29I took a cosmetology class and nail tech. I know how to do all that stuff myself. I give myself a manicure every week.
30I do my own nails at home. It's cheap, and for a germphobe like me it feels safer.

32do it myself!
