Call me butterfingers. Earlier today, while getting dressed, I actually split a pair of my favorite jeans in the crotch. A squirt of tinted moisturizer on the front of my ruffled plaid blouse, and I was off to a great start.
Recently, I found the perfect shade of coral polish in Revlon's Nail Enamel in Red Hot Tamale ($5), but unfortunately, the color also spilled from toenails to skin, all due to my klutzy ways.
Of course, you can always dunk a Q-tip in polish remover to remove the unwanted polish, but my neighbor came to the rescue with this ingenious tip. After the polish has set on your skin, simply take an emery board ($1.60) and gently sand off the spillage until those smudges magically disappear. Why didn't I think of that?

Ooh, I've done this for years! I'm always really shaky so I make messes on my fingers all the time.
My other trick is that when the polish is dry I hop in the shower and the polish on my skin peels right off! Looks like a professional manicure every time!
1That seems a little rough to take an emery board to your skin, especially the sensitive skin right around your nails. I'm with RobyTose, peeling it off after a shower is a better option
2I cant do the emery board on my skin. I've super sensitive skin, so I let it dry and wash my hands under warm water, or hop in the shower.
3I have to use that trick as well, it seems like the brushes are all so large for most polishes.
4As long as you're not opening the skin; some have super sensitive skin and this will just increase infection risk.
5If you clean up immediately after polishing each nail, you needn't sand; all you have to do is press the board against the side (top, cuticle) of the nail and pull it against the skin away from the toe.
6It's very easy to do this without hurting your skin. You're not actually scrubbing the skin off, you're loosening the polish.
7I've def. done this b4 - it's a gentle process.
8I use Essie's quick-drying nail oil; it not only helps my nail polish set but it makes the extra nail polish super easy to peel off! Hopping in the shower is also a great alternative.
9i always feel like such a dope when i see how easy a solution is and wonder why didnt i think of that
10my tips is - next morning just take a shower and give your footsies a good scrub. the nail polish will come off the skin, and if it doesn't - the towel will take care of it. if it's your fingers - when i've washed your hands just peel it off, when it's fresh (12 hours old) and wet it peels really well of the skin.
11Love this tip.. since with the qtip in remover always removes some of the polish on my actual nail.
12I've done this for years.. and it works with the metal ones too. I use the less abrasive side. Works every time too.
13this is a good tip! thanks bella!
14i always do my nails before i shower so its all gone when you hop out
15Hi! I'm Polish. Polish is very present. are you jak myślisz?
