With the recession showing no signs of slowing down, it's going to be a while until buying expensive baubles is back in style. But that doesn't mean you have to give up the glamour. WWD reports that nail-polish brand Essie is teaming up with luxe jewelry designer Judith Ripka for a small color collection. The three colors ($15 each), due in stores this August, are infused with diamond dust for a glittering sheen. Better yet, a few very lucky women will get an amazing gift with purchase: a diamond, a sapphire, and an emerald will be hidden in three bottles of polish. (Manicure guru Essie Weingarten says that the polish will come off with regular remover.) Sounds like a gem of a surprise to me.

So, you have to use all your nail polish to find the hidden stone? How do you get it out? Sounds a bit impractical, but heck, considering there's a precious stone inside I wouldn't mind the trouble.
1Pretty neat, but whoever finishes a whole bottle of nail polish?!
2I used to object to spending that much on nail polish... but Essie is amazing. I forgive them their gimmicks.
3i would probably never find it! and it would have to be a pretty small stone, unless they expect you to break it open to get it out
4Secret tried this idea in their deoderant one time. I never found that diamond. I guess it will be easier to spot if the polish isn't thick.
5I imagine they'd chuck a mixing ball in there so people wont just tip up the bottle. Neat idea though.
6Sounds neat!
