After getting very excited while writing about Frederic Fekkai Summer Hair Wash & Wear ($20), I had to hop online and get myself a bottle. It sounded like the ideal hair refresher for summer: I could wash my hair every other day, then spray this stuff on to keep my locks from getting oily, dull, or smelly.

I have tried several powder-like dry shampoos, and while they're good at absorbing oil on your bangs and around you face, they don't really make your hair look "fresher."
The Summer Hair Wash & Wear, on the other hand, was great for freshening the free-hanging locks away from my face that often look limp the day after washing. Spraying this stuff gave my hair a renewed bounce and shine and a subtle beachy scent.
However, the Fekkai spray did not make the hair around my face look less greasy. In fact, I found that if I played around with it too much after spraying, my hair actually looked oilier. So basically, the "cleansing magnets" don't really do anything.
Really, this product could be great or disappointing, depending on what kind of "hair refreshing" you need. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I can see it coming in handy for other people. If you like it, tell me what you think.

1y'know, we should try a pay-it-forward system with products we don't like. Buy something, don't like it? Send it to someone else to try. You get a different product that didn't work out for someone. It would take a large network to get it right. And people would list the products they're interested in trying. You could buy the product (minus $5 for each "tester) or accumulate phantom money by sending on almost-new products.
2Thanks for the review - I was wondering whether or not to try it. I think I still might because I'm a sucker...and Karlia, I totally agree that a pay it forward system would be awesome. It might also work to just post what you have that you don't want and see if anyone wants to trade for something you want to try. It would be less complicated that way and could work with less people - unless everyone has the same stuff they didn't like!
3FYI for the gals who posted above...there's already such a system on makeup alley (www.makeupalley.com) and you can swap makeup items. It's also a ton of great reviews for a ton of products. You'll find that a lot of peeps on here are fans of that site as well.
4Yea- I was skeptical about it too. I tried the frizz fighting spray and hated it. It made my hair sticky
5I tried it--it's OK and I like the sun protection part of it, but I prefer baby powder to absorb the oil in my hair and make it thicker and fresher...and since I have light blonde hair right now, it's perfect.
6Too bad, it sounded like an ideal product. I guess it was just good marketing.

8Shame it doesn't work as it promises. I'm waiting for the day a perfect dry shampoo hits the market.
9I tried this on damp hair and it worked much better than on dry hair! Maybe you'll like the results better that way.
10The salon brand "shuga" makes a spray "leave in shampoo" that absorbs oil really well, but doesn't dry you're hair out too much. It also dissolves styling products. (to an extent, i find stuff i put in my ends seems to disappear, but just enough is left to areas i've hair sprayed and teased) It consists of mostly starches and proteins. I like it alot, have gone 3 or 4 days without washing!! You can't use "too much" which is great, but the biggest downside is it only come in 4oz bottles & is about $20 a bottle, and it only lasts me a little over a month. I've found it's loads better that the leave in powders & some of the other products I've tried though.
