Did you know that some makeup brands don't make their formulations in darker shades? Unfortunately, as any woman of color can tell you, finding foundation can be a formidable task. Big Girl Cosmetics, a small company from Chicago, is trying to change that by offering products in hard-to-find shades.
The preservative-free line includes body scrubs, lip glosses and eye shadow, but the big draw is the foundation. Depending on whether you're looking at powder or cream foundation, there are between five and 19 shades, at least half of which will flatter African-American, Asian and Latina complexions. And the packaging is very urban-chic, too! To see some of my favorite picks from this multicultural line, read more

2I think that is great. I don't care for the brand name though.
3Awesome, I hope they do day-glo white. Talk about hard to find!
4I hope they start making shades for the super pale, since healthy pale skin is in. It's extremely hard to find a foundation that matches.
5Specialksgurl and Colormesticky, have you tried Becca? They make foundations in something like 30 shades, including some very fair ones. I'm pretty pale myself and I've had good luck with Becca.
6I feel you sticky! I have tons in common with Casper the friendly ghost! This is a good product if they are trying to have a wider range which is great for those who can't find what they are looking for!
7Thanks Bella! I'll go look it up.
8this is pretty cool
9Yes, we make shades for the super pale sisters to the chocolate ladies of the sun.

I'm glad to see a company that is catering to darker skin tones how they make it really big. I'm 23 and just now starting to experiment with make up and I really see how hard it is too find make up for African-American women this is nice I'll have to check them out.
11Great tips and comments! However when it comes to my face, I'm very particular as to what I put on it. Brand names like MAC and Carol's daughter have wonderful lines for women of color and are backed by celebrities like Jada Pinkett Smith and Mary J. Blige. I don't know about you but I would research a small company before I dump their product on my face. It doesn't seem to be any customer feedback or buzz about Big Girl!
