This How To is for those of you who have written in asking me about the cute summer braids Jessica Simpson was seen wearing yesterday and again over the weekend. This style is great for summertime, because it's quick, easy and it gets your hair off of your face. It can be created on wet or dry hair, no sticky styling product is required and it is a great option for those of you who have bangs in that awkward in between stage. All you need are two hair clips and two hair elastics.

For directions on how to create these simple summer braids at home, read more
- Step 1: Part your hair where it would naturally fall and divide the rest of your hair into three sections. The first is the front left which should be left loose for braiding, the second is the front right which will also be braided and the third is the rest of your hair which will not be braided. Clip the front right and the back of your hair so that you can begin braiding in a neat and organized way.
- Step 2: Begin braiding the left front of your hair in either a reverse corn-row style braid or in an inverse, french style braid. Braid hair on an angle starting from your roots and working down toward your ear. As you work on each braid, incorporate strands in even amounts on either side of the braid so that your hair lies flatly and securely against your head.
- Step 3: When you get to your ear, you shouldn't have any more hair to pick up, so finish the braid in a slightly looser style than the rest of your hair. Braid until the very end and secure with a hair-tie of your choice.
- Step 4: Repeat steps two and three on the right front section of your hair. You can either leave the back loose or you can put it in a ponytail, a loose bun, a knot, a twist or a braid of its own!

I have actually been wondering how to get these! Great tips, thanks!
1i remember her doing this a few years ago too...i love it! thanks!
2Very cute. I don't know how to do a corn row or French braid, though.
3yeah, how do you do a corn row or French braid? I LOVE this look!
4This look is really cute! Thanks again!
5Could use a link or info on a reverse french braid!
For a standard french braid: Divide hair into 3 sections.
Grab a small amount from the middle. Now grab the same amount form the right side and loop it over the top of the middle piece. Tighten. Now the piece from the right becomes the middle piece.
Now grab a piece from the left. Loop it over the top of the middle piece. This piece from the left now becomes the new middle piece.
Now take the piece on the right and grab some more hair into the bunch. Loop it over the top of the middle section and tighten. The right piece now becomes the new middle piece. (The middle piece becomes the piece on the right.)
Do the same with the left side. Grab some more hair into the piece already on the left side. Loop it over the middle and it too becomes the new middle piece.
Keep doing this, grabbing more hair and looping it over to become the new middle piece until all hair is incorporated. If hair is long, and there is no new hair to grab just finish the braid with a regular braid. Elastic it and ta-da!
6Inverse french braid? Do you mean a Dutch braid? Where you fold the strands in underneath instead of over the top?
7Yay! I tried to do this on myself but couldn't figure out how to make it turn out right! Daisie - I think inverse French braid is where you fold the strands underneath. I've never heard it called Dutch braid, but then again, the last time I heard French braid terminology was 6th grade when I learned how to do it, and we called it inside-out French braid. But it looks like that when it comes out...and it explains why I couldn't get it to turn out on myself before when I was doing plain French braid!
8I will try this. It's very cute.
9Aww, cute.
10But I'm too clumsy and impatient for this. ^^'
Daisie,
11I couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for explaining. Forgive me, I've been doing french braids since my camp days at the age of seven so writing out how to braid didn't even cross my mind. This process is very quick Dragonia, really. It should take you no more than 5 minutes all in! Also Daisie, I have never heard of a Dutch braid either - but to clarify a corn-row, or a reverse braid is when the braid is raised (when the hair gets tucked underneath) and an inverse braid or a french braid is when the hair gets crossed over the top. Does this make sense? Either way, you can choose whichever style you like best and have fun with it - it's supposed to be easy, breezy summertime hair!!!
I find her immensely annoying, but that is a really cute look!
12those braids are SO cute! Too bad my hair is too short to imitate, but then, I could never pull off any JSimpson looks. I'm glad she's blonde again.
