The other day Mr. Bella, struggling to find his tweezers among the endless array of half-empty little glass bottles on our bathroom counter, asked me if I'd ever used up one of my nail polishes. I thought about it and realized that no, in my life as far as I can remember, I never have. I feel kind of wasteful now, but at the same time I wonder — am I the only like this, or do most of us move on before we run out?

no, I've never finished a bottle, but that hasn't stopped me from buying backups of a couple favorites JUST IN CASE I run out and the color is discontinued!
Nope, not yet and I am like comment #1 with the back ups. LOL
I have a loooong time ago. Right when I never thought about collecting and making it my career. I Love nail polish and right now I have over 60+! However only 1 of them is a little used up...
Nope. I don't wear nail polish often enough to warrant buying more than a bottle per...well, I haven't bought one since about 4 years ago...but yeah. I don't even use them often enough to finish by the time they're all cakey!
I never thoght about it and I don't think I've ever have
i have but only a few
Nope. And I also buy back-ups.
I think maybe once or twice.... Recently I don't bother getting any because I'm very good at screwing up a paint job when I try to paint my nails. I might want one or more soon though because there are different colors I'd like.
not yet, but i do have several that are half empty or so...I'm a polish freak and my nails pretty much stay painted. I'm like you though, Bella, and HATE to be wasteful, so I really like it when I see that I'm actually USING and making a dent in all the polishes I buy.
No...
I have finished 4 bottles. About 10 years ago Chanel made these 4 polishes that were shear. they almost looked like lip gloss. I used them right up and much to my dismay I went to replenish and they were limited editions. Ever since then I have been on the hunt for something to replace them, but with no avail.
after some time, all of my bottles end up too chunky or too thick to continue using so i end up tossing them before i get the chance to finish the bottle.
I pay someone to do my nails! I'm horrible at it myself!
In high scool, I used to wear nail polish far more frequently then I do now.
Unfortunately these days, I am more likely to use a bottle only once.
nope
Yes, but really meaning "almost" finished. Nail polish is usually too thick to use at the bottom.
You know I have never thought about it but dog gone it...I have never finished a bottle of nail polish, it usually gets thick and I just buy another.
I've never finished a bottle of color, but I have finished several bottles of Seche Vite quick dry top coat!
yes i have...esp when i lived when many girl roommates and we all shared. MOST that i don't finish is because they get too thick towards the end of the bottle and im too lazy to do anything about it, i just throw them away.
Well considering I buy a new one about every week I have quite the collection of unfinished bottles. I keep them in a little shoe box so they stay out of the the way.
I have some nail polish bottles that are close to 10 years old. still working on it.
Yep,once
I have finished one or two bottles of favorite colors but most sit 1/2 empty...I know wasteful. This post almost makes me want to clean out my nail polish drawer.
a few times; I'm a nail polish junkie...
Just La Boheme by OPI...no others yet.
The only bottles I have ever finished are clear ones as I use them for an undercoat and a top coat. All my coloured polishes are no where near being finished! Unfortunately I tend to go through colour phases and then get sick of the colour
What qualifies as "finished" for a bottle of nail polish? I get fed up when the brush doesn't reach the polish anymore and the polish is thick from being exposed to the air after so many uses...
no i havent ever finished an entire bottle.
This is a hilarious observation. I've never thought about it, but I really have never finished one, either,. I've only thrown them out when they dried out.
I don't think I've ever come close.
I thought about this the other day and felt a little guilty, but in my mind, spending a few dollars on a bottle of nail polish is a fraction of the cost of a manicure, and I really do paint my nails often enough for it to add up! I should probably go through and throw out the clumpy ones though..
Nope not that I can think of.
Ladies, I hope you all know that nail polish is considered household hazardous waste and you should dispose of it accordingly (i.e. NOT by throwing it away in your trash bin!). I take mine to a local waste center here in Los Angeles.
