The summer heat takes all the glamour out of having long hair, since it feels sweaty on our necks—and blow drying becomes a gut-wrenching chore. But how many of us would actually shave it all off like Mena Suvari? The cut is for her new movie Garden of Eden, but still, that takes some serious bravery! Sinead, Britney and Demi have all done it, too. Would you?

since I don't posses a gorgeous or beautiful face, I don't thnk a shaved head will suit me. I think only "beautiful faces" can pull this off. That's only my opinion.
1I can't imagine how freeing that would be! That said, it might be a while before I'm ready for that, unless it's something I can't help.
2Def. for a movie role and I have always tossed the idea around anyway. It would be nice to get a "clean start" on your hair- no dyes, no spit ends or over processed tresses, start off fresh!
3I did it once (and cried for weeks) but I had shoulder surgery and was not able to move my right shoulder/arm for a long time. My hair did grown back nice and healthy though
4yeah maybe.. if I was paid for a movie like Mena is! What wouldn't I do for several millions..hmmmm????
5I had a 'Betty Boop' but once, and that was too short!
6I'd do it!
7Absolutley, positively, hell no, are you effin' kidding me, N0 WAY!!!!
8I'd love to, but I don't think it would look good, so I doubt it!
9Do it all the time. I first did it when I was 16 , I had just had a sh!teous breakup and my international exams were starting the next day so Idecided to go for a change and my my 13 year old sister shave me almost bald lol!1 It looked really cute so I do it perodically when i feel the need to do something drastic, I'm actually grwoing it out after shaving it off in May.
10I have a little bit of psoriasis on the back of my head, no way! Hahaaa TMI, I know.
xoxo
11PS I would love to see pics of ladies with buzzed heads, I bet some of yall pull it off with fab-u-lousity!
xoxo
12Yup.
13I had brain surgery and shaved my whole head after because they only shaved half my head, which looked sooooo silly! Anyways, surprisingly I didn't look all that bad, and lots of guys were into it!
14I would do it. My hair is in such bad shape right now. Split ends, falling out, dry, etc. I've been ready to do this for over a year. The time will come!
You know Angie did it?
15a friend of mine did it as a dare- her bf was supposed 2 do it too but he chickened out haha, she totally rocked it tho cuz she's really cute n funky
16If I was getting paid a couple of million for a movie role i would....other wise not a chance!
17maybe if I had to for like a movie or modelling or something. I might even try it just for the sake of it if a professional stylist confirmed that i have the correct face and head shape for it. You never know....
18I recently had some hair dye issues and my hair got really damaged. If my hair were as seriously damaged as some people's (Britney, I'm looking at you), I could see the temptation.
19oh hells yeah!
20i bic shaved it right off my sophomore and senior years in high school. it was great!
i was just getting my pixie-cut hair trimmed today and told my hairstylist we should just shave it off! she disagreed, but i would really like to do it . . . maybe soon!
21I'm new to Pop sugar : )
as you can see in my pic my hair is long, thick, and I love it : )
I was diagnosed with breast cancer just about a month ago(I'm 24...yikes) and just about 3 weeks ago I noticed my long hair fall to pieces so i said screw it and shaved it off. I have 2 more months of treatmetns to go and I have wigs for now but I ofcourse miss it...
it is a different feeling but I feel somewhat like a warrior : )
22Aw, Maha_es — so sorry to hear about your diagnosis, but it sounds like you are definitely a strong lady! I know you'll get better, and while you're in your wig phase, you'll be able to try out all kinds of different styles! Sending get-healthy-soon wishes your way!
23I would love to do it! But I'd like to be traveling or something. I couldn't imagine having a shaved head in a professional enviroment.
24Maybe. If I was getting paid a couple of million dollars (to be in a movie or not), I would probably shave my head for that payoff.
25maha_es - That is because you ARE a warrior! Be proud!
26Thank you ladies : ) I try my best!! It's hard at times but there's always hope and a light at the end of every single tunnel
27i think my head's too big...but one of my friends did it at the end of college, before she got hardcore into the professional job search.
and maha-es, way to be positive...warrior attitude definitely makes a difference!
28maha_es, you should totally rock a bald pic on here!! I agree with the girls, you are a warrior-- way to be strong!
29I buzzed my hair senior year of high school and kept it that way for the first year of college. It's a tremendously freeing thing; you feel about ten feet tall without all that hair weighing you down, showers are much shorter, and your daily routine is cut down drastically.
On the other hand (head?), I'm really enjoying my shoulder-length hair. It takes a lot of time to make it look nice, what with the washing and brushing and styling, but it's very pleasant and feminine. I'm glad I've experienced both.
And maha_es, I wish you a speedy and full recovery. Be a warrior woman and kick its butt!
30I'd do it... then hate myself while waiting for it to grow back.
31I wouldn't do it, but I like.
32maha_es...you're my hero
I think I'd shave my head if my hair were totally unhealthy, or if my scalp got damaged by some process. It seems like a healthier option than getting extensions to hide the damage.
My mom gave herself a little buzz-cut after a lengthy hospital stay...she simply didn't have the energy to fuss with her thick, shoulder length hair anymore...she never went back! She rocks a little pixie now, I think it's much cuter than the Hillary-Clinton "helmet head" she used to have...
33Only if is for a cause like a movie or anything else… but not like Britney out of the blue
34uhhh never. i'd rather die.
35been there, done that, ive considered doing it again.
36I would and I have before. It was awesome and I got tons of compliments!!
37i've gotten my hair cut really short before, and i've LOVED it! what's a few more inches. it would litereally take 10 minutes to get ready in the morning!
38i don't have the head for it. my head's all weird shaped and angular under my hair so there is no way i'm revealing that to people!!
39I had my hair cut extremely short, about 1-2 inches all around. My hair was soo so so damaged, I felt like I needed a fresh start!
40Short healthy hair > fried long hair
I would only do it for a role (on the stage) or a cause (Like in protest...although I don't know what I would be protesting.)
But not for fashion's sake. I don't have strong enough features to pull off really short hair and especially not no hair at all.
Besides I like flipping my hair! lol
41NEVER!!!
42absolutely!! i've always wanted to do it, but to get paid to do it would make it even more worthwhile!! Hair grows back, why not give it a shot?? plus that cuts out so much "getting ready" time
43I would bear it well if I had to (like the wonderful mama_es) But I have a really big head and some scars from a car accident that would probably look really freaky
44I was going to when my family found out that my sister had alopecia. That is when all of your hair falls out for really no reason what-so-ever. She was going to shave her head and I was going to to support her since we ran with the same crowd. But she decided not to and so I didn't have to...but I totally would. It helps put life and your priorities back in the proper order.
45i am honestly suprised at how many of you said you would (or have) shave your head. i am completely terrified to have short hair. i think i would look like a boy. ive never had anything shorter than shoulder length. i give mayja props to anybody who does. rock on chicas!!
46I wouldn't but neither am I Mena Suvari. She can pull it off.
47oh god no...
48ive worn a really lowcut and loved it...only thing for me was it took a lot of maintenance to keep it looking good...As far as a real buzz/bald lol uhmmm i could do it..
49i cut my hair very, very short 5 years ago after having it long for a couple of years-- and though i think it looked cute on me i´m loving having my hair very long again..
50but i probabbly get tired of it in about a year and cut again
