From a biological perspective, hair is like a little diary giving clues about your personality, from where you live to what you smoke to what you tend to eat. But from a social perspective, hair can give clues about you in a whole other way. It might be stereotyping, but it is human nature for people to form impressions about other people within mere seconds. "Hair and identity are inseparable — whether you're consciously making a statement or not, your hairstyle does express something about you," anthropology professor David Coplan of Wits University in South Africa told True Love magazine. When it comes to hair, can you guess what general impressions people make based on the length and appearance of other women's hair? You be the judge.

wow this is really interesting
i'm assuming many people will take some sort of offense to this
my comments:
1- i can't handle when older women have long hair...it's ridiculous past a certain age...like look at marie osmond these days...good lord lady, get a bob
- it's funny that "rebels" tend to think they're stepping out from the norm but really they're just trying to be unique just the same as all their friends
- true, women who choose to be bald (aside from medical reasons) do so probably for various reasons but i'd assume it's because they want to be rebelious...guys, more often than not, shave their heads cuz they're mostly bald and want to disguise it
Very interesting. I got thrown off with the mohawk question... I chose the exact opposite.
Skigurl I agree about the long hair haha I don't know why, it just doesn't seem right.
2I am in my early 30s and have very long hair. I cut it to my chin when I turned 30 in an effort to look more chic, and while it was fun for a while, it was so time consuming to fix my hair everyday.
I will be one of those older women with long hair, because it is FAR more low maintenance, way more versatile, I save lots of money from avoiding the salon entirely, and it appeals to my bohemian spirit. I love Marni clothes and that whole eccentric librarian look, and having long hair allows me to achieve all different kinds of hairstyles, though I wear it in a messy bun or in heidi-braids quite often.
I will also be one of those grannies rocking blue and green nail polish.
I think it is a shame that people feel the need to adhere to ridiculous rules about what is acceptable. What squares!
3why does long hair on a woman over 40 have such negative implications? why can't it simply be a style preference?
i have to admit, i think super long hair looks unkempt and bad on pretty much everyone, but what's wrong with average long hair on a woman of any age?
4yea i have rly short hair....i like this quiz its cute
5
interesting
6I think the long haired question is a bunch of crap. I know lots of women with longer hair in that age bracket who are beautiful, confident, successful and take good care of themselves. Just because you have short or long hair doesn't make you better or worse just different and different is good.
This quiz was sort of silly O_o.
7So, according to skigirl, if you are turning 40 this year, rush to the salon for a freaking bob or else!
Thank you for being the authority on sheep-dom.
8i thought the answers were our opinions...oops....i dont get the point of this then?
9Indeed, women need to stop limiting other women's choices.
Long hair on an older woman shouldn't threaten anyone. It is just hair!
10Your hair is beautiful!!! Whether you leave it long or cut it short. Please be kind.
11Haha..plasticine I thought the exact same thing.....i don't get it...lol
12depends on what you look like at 40...someone between 40 and 45ish could probably do the long hair thing if they're stylish and very well groomed...but 50 is absolutely pushing it (ie: marie osmond)
13I hope I always have my long hair, I hate the idea that women past a certain age need to look like soccer moms. what a load of crap.
14This quiz shouldn't really have correct/wrong answers, it's actually very subjective.
15And disagree with the short hair, I know plenty of women with short hair who have short hair because it's easier to maintain.
16If I was to get my hair cut short it would be 'cause I'm so sick of washing and brushing it.. it's extremely thick.. but I want to look feminine!
17I have long hair and I do more maintenance then most short haired women. Its curly and so II flat iron it on a daily basis. Takes alot of effort but I dislike my natural hair.
18I have naturally straight hair that grows long easily, and I have always wanted curly hair. I guess it just goes to show that the grass is always greener...
19Over 50, colored hair down to middle of my back. I dare anyone to tell me I'm over 50 and must cut my hair, that's the dumbest thing I've read today. And Marie is pretty good looking! Who invented these hair police anyway? And am I to assume everyone with short hair is over 50? Oh I could go on and on, but I'd rather watch football - more sensible.
20I completely disagree about older women with long hair. I always used to wonder why the idea that women needed to have short hair when older started and I think it is partially because many women tend to have thinning as they age, go through pregnancies, etc. I personally think that if medium/long hair looks good on you, then there is no reason why you can't stay that way till the day you die. Especially if you're still rocking the thickness for this style.
21This quiz was crap. Where did the answers come from anyway? I don't think there is 1 hair style that is right for every person, regardless of age.
22This quiz is a load of old-fashioned garbage. Where the heck are these so called "right answers" coming from? None of these types of things are remotely as clear-cut as you are making them out to be. Thanks for reinforcing negative female stereotypes! Girl power hurrah!
23I completely disagree with #2. I keep my hair long because I love being/feeling feminine and long hair looks best on me. Not that I "don't want to grow up." I agree with #21 Joycupcake's comment. Thanx. You said it.
24And I am approaching the big Three Zero.
25I don't plan on cutting my hair short
any time within the next 40 yrs.
