A new study reports that Brits spend £37 million (almost $75 million) on beauty supplements such as Borba and Perfectil. I've gotta be honest with you: I've tried supplements, and all they've done is aggravate my skin. Some friends rave about them, but I've tried three different brands and haven't seen anything close to the amazing results that were promised. So I want to know: Do you take beauty supplements? Do you think they work, or is it all a bunch of bunk?

Perfectil junkie right here! xo
Ewww nooo!
I would never fill my body up with all that junkie bull!
I take my one a day multi-vitamin and that is more then good enough for me!
i remember the last time i took something like this... Metabolife! i didn't need it but i thought it might curb my appetite and give me a more svelte figure, i broke out with the hugest pimples i have ever seen
i don't take beauty supplements per se, but i do take a few vitamins that are linked to beauty: biotin for hair and nail health, omega-3 for skin and hair (extra bonus for heart health!), and alpha lipoic acid as an antioxident protectant. i also take a flinstones multi-vitamin and calcium chews. whew - i sure am keeping those vitamin people in business!!
I take GNC hair, skin and nails and it not only helps my skin and hair, it has vitamins and other good stuff for my nutrition as well!
what's perfectil?
a multi vitamin is always good when we stress ourselves out and eat crappy food drink too much or not enough hahah cuz your body needs help from time to time but the best source of these nutrients should probably be from their natural food bi-products.
I would think that they would work well since health comes from inside out, but if they have too much of a certain vitamin in them they could aggravate your skin, especially if you already eat food containing that vitamin. Too much zinc aggrevates my stomach too.
ive heard prenatal vitamins work really well from hair from the people at a beauty salon.
I used to take a hair, skin, and nails supplement, but honestly it didn't do anything for me that a daily multivitamin couldn't do.
I haven't but they'd be worth checking out as long as all the ingredients were natural and just vitamins and minerals.
I DON'T FEEL COMFORTABLE TAKING VITAMINS MADE BY A BEAUTY COMPANY, I MEAN, WHAT DO THEY KNOW ABOUT VITAMINS...BUT IF THEY WERE FDA APPROVED AND MY DOCTOR GAVE THE OKAY I WOULD TRY THEM
My mom is using the Olay Vitamin thingy at the moment. I haven't noticed a difference though.
ive heard prenatal vitamins are great for hair but im not sure if this is true
hair skin nail vitamins work to make my hair grow faster
I heard one about skin whitening. I've seen it work for others, so I want to try it!
I've never taken them and I don't think I ever will.
i take a multi-vitamin and i drink vitamin water when i can. not really for beauty but the vitamins can't hurt that either. i agree with lippy, i'd be sketchy about taking a vitamin put forth by a beauty company
a great multi does WONDERS for skin, hair and nails...honestly! they used to hurt my tummy...but my husband has GORGEOUS skin. etc...he said just TRY IT...sooooo i did, made sure i ATE when i took them...and let me just TELL YOU it was GRAND!!! take one...you'll see better appearance, give yourself vitamins that are impossible to get everyday, even if you are a PERFECT eater....and more ENERGY!!!
never taken them . maybe I would give them a try if a friend of mine tries them and tells me they work
What are they exactly? Will your body take to them better than topical products?
I've never taken Borba or the other one, but I have taken Appearex for my nails and it did make my nails really hard. My nails have always grown really long, but this made them hard. I've also taken fish oil pills - I'm not sure if they did anything spectacular for me, and I take a multivitamin now. I'd be willing to take Helioplex bc it would help with blocking out the sun.
are they pills you take to make your skin and hair heathier? if thats the case then i doubt they work.
I've just started taking biotin and fish oil supplements. I guess I'm kind of a vitamin junkie, but I'm not quite sure if they work or not... yet!
I think vitamin E, Calcium, lots of water and mositurizer are plenty...plus their all healthy!
I question any type of vitamin or mineral in a pill or tablet form. The process of actually creating the pill involves intense heat and vitamins aren't the most stable substance. Any value from the pill is hugely diluted in the process of creating it. A great multivitamin in capsule or liquid form is the way to go. As far as taking prenatal vitamins for healthy hair and skin... it definitely can work because prenatal vit are basically a power dose of vitamins.... one draw back is you might spend most of the day on the toilet because it makes things very.....runny, if you know what I mean.
I take Dr. Perricone Skin and Body supplements. However, I only take one small packet a day. The instruction tells me to take four small packets (two large packets) a day, and that is just too much for me to handle.
I do a Women's one a day Vitamin , Omega 3 and Blue Green Algae.
Oh, and green Tea Kombucha (drink)
