Remember when Stila was impossible to find? I can still recall the first time I saw one of their lip glazes on a friend who'd just come back from New York — we were all totally smitten and covetous. Now, the company is going for mass appeal, selling this Makeup Player ($69.90, including cosmetics), under the tagline "Does Your Makeup Talk to You?" (Yes, but only after one too many White Russians.)
The Makeup Player is essentially two speakers inside a pleather case, and you're supposed to be able to listen to music or watch Stila's instructional makeup videos (if you already own an iPod with video, of course) while you apply. Is this a geek-meets-chic moment, or do you think it's goofy?

it's a step up from the talking compacts, those were ridiculous.
Ever since Jeanine Lobell left, Stila's gone downhill fast. Even the artwork isn't as cute as before.
1#1 (Yes, but only after one too many White Russians.) - HILARIOUS.
#2 it is corny, but in a cute way.... like, I'd buy this for my 13 year old cousin, who would think it's the coolest thing EVERRRRR. and at 13 (ok, at 19), I'd probably want one too
2Bella, you are hilarious. I actually like the idea, because I like to listen to music when I get ready in the morning, so it would be nice to automatically have something to plug my ipod into when i'm staying at a hotel.
The tagline "does your makeup talk to you?" is horribly cheesy though!
3No thank you. Perhaps it would appeal to a teenager.
