A Bella Donna is more than just a pretty face. Sometimes she starts a trend, other times her impact isn't realized until decades after her debut. And then there are a few who become legendary, like this week's choice, Diana, Princess of Wales. Born Diana Spencer, she was not the "commoner" many people initially imagined her to be; she was born into an aristocratic family, which was a requirement for her to marry Charles, Prince of Wales. Their 1981 wedding was watched by almost one billion people, and their divorce was a hot tabloid topic. But Diana's charity work showed her great compassion, and her death—which happened ten years ago tomorrow—plunged the world into sorrow.
From her early days in the media spotlight to her unexpected death, Diana's personal style inspired countless women to copy her look. Most women couldn't afford her luxurious ballgowns, but they could manage to mimic her short blonde hairstyle. In the early '80s, she favored a feathered look, but it always kept up with the times—often setting off trends with a snip of the scissors. She didn't have a perfect life; she struggled with depression, bulimia and a failed marriage. Still—and maybe partly because of her resilience—she remains one of the 20th century's most influential beauties. Diana would have been 46 this past July.

I was only a kid when she passed away however I still love her to this day. Lovely and Kind, she was and is a true icon.
Always A Princess...
Such a loss...
Diana was so beautiful.
Loved Princess Diana. I bet she'd still be a trendsetter at 46 if she was still with us.
I watched her marriage as a kid with my mom (She adored her!!) and the day of her death, I cried and cried. I am getting chills right now, just thinking of her and her mysterious death. She was so lovely and so tortured! I feel that we as people, women, related to her because she was "humanized" by her troubles. Her death has rocked me like no other....just so tragic. We could learn alot from her!
I thought she was great, stayed up way past my bedtime to watch her wedding, but looking at those pictures I feel like telling her she should've done something different with her hair at some point...
I never thought she was beautiful, but I did see her gowns at the museum. They were beautiful. The detail was extraordinary.
she had the most piercing eyes, and showed so much compassion, I think the saddest aspect of her tragic life was that she was such a loving mother and her children did not have the chance to grow up with her.
Great choice, Bella.
I still remember watching the details of the car crash when it happened...I can't believe it's been 10 years. She was such an icon and was truly one of a kind.
I believe in the conspiracy theories... anyone watch the recent movie?
It's a bit sad to me that how people still trying to "find something" about her. I mean, I really like her, and I wish she could rest in peace. It's just sad some people are trying to get money from her story.
Lovely woman.
She was a wonderful women!
I loved what she did (and all her pretty clothes)...I remember watching her on TV when i was a little girl.
Thank you for the lovely tribute BellaSugar. Princess Diana was truly a fashion icon and a great humanitarian. Can't believe it's already been 10 years since she tragically died.
The Jackie-O of Europe.
oh lovely, lovely choice BELLA. she was woman worthy to be respected and appreciated for her charity efforts and being a caring mother. a class act.
I don't remember much of her funeral, but I remember the extravagant wedding.
Perfect choice & tribute today. I have always loved her generosity and her understanding of people, no matter where she traveled or who she was dealing with.
She is so timelessly gorgeous. She is one person I would compare with Marilyn Monroe....she just has that vulberability and compassion for children. She's a legendary woman and will never be forgotten.
she tried to be normal in raising her kids while still doing her royal duties. i loved how she grew into her fashion sense and of course her work for various causes. she is missed as an icon of family, fashion, and good deeds. she is such the opposite of the prince and his whole family.
she is a gorgeous person in everyway, i was only 7 when she died but it did have an impact spesh living in the uk, everyone loves her. Princess Di used to dress like most mums but when she was at a high class event she went all out. i went with my grandma to kensington palace when i was young to see the Princess's dress collection after she died and some of them were spectacular, she deffinatly was a very stunning lady with a equally stunning wardrobe
I was only 11 at the time of her death, but she is a timeless, classic icon who is truly a beautiful person. her death is/was so tragic ... such a legend.
Wow, I can remember exactly where I was, watching the live reports from the scene...hard to believe it's been 10 years....
shes such an inspiration to every woman who suffers through failed marriages, depression, and eating disorders. She was able to stay strong and help out others who were less fortunate
she was a beautiful person.
Right now I was reading what Bella wrote and I just remembered my mother who like Diana had class, compassion, and a complete mess of a life, but she was the strongest person I ever knew and its great to see the world give Princess D the recognition and admiration she deserves.
