Katy Perry is known for her daring makeup and clothing, but last night at the This Is It premiere in LA, she chose an understated look. Her eye makeup, which made her eyes look incredibly bright and clear, was especially nice. It was a smoky eye, using bright shadow instead of dark liner on the bottom, and the complementary tones looked amazing. To find out how to get this elegant slate eye, just keep reading.
- Start out with a base of eyeshadow primer, like Too Faced Shadow Insurance Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer ($17). If you want Katy's exact look, follow up by applying a strip of fan-shaped false lashes, like Andrea Modlash Starter Kit in Black 33 ($6), and then follow over the lash line with a black felt-tip eyeliner pen, like Revlon ColorStay Liquid Eye Pen ($4).
- Apply a slightly shimmery slate eyeshadow, like Origins Eyeshadow in Sparkling Slate ($14), from your lash line to the crease.
- Use a white shadow, like CoverGirl Eye Enhancers in Snow Blossom 620 ($3), from the crease to your brow bone, and then into the inner corner of your eye.
- Use a white eyeliner pencil, like Wet 'n' Wild Kohl Eyeliner Pencil in White ($1.50), to waterline your bottom lash line. Finish up with a couple coats of volumizing black mascara, like Maybelline the Colossal Waterproof Volum' Express Mascara in Very Black 240 ($8).
