Rockabilly hair can best be described as a modern take on the bun—but it has more height, added texture, and just a little bit of edginess, since the look doesn't require every single hair to be in place.
Lately we've been talking about the spring 2008 looks, but we shouldn't forget that the first day of fall is actually tomorrow! This chic hairstyle appeared on the runways of Nathan Jenden and Billl Blass (see the gallery) for the Fall 2007 New York Fashion Shows and is appropriate for day or night.
The look can easily be created at home by following these five simple steps. To read them, read more
- Step 1: Use a little bit of Phytovolume Actif Maximizing Volume Spray while blow-drying hair to give it shape and height.
- Step 2: Next, Isolate a section of hair at the top and spritz it with a firm hold hairspray.
- Step 3: Then, wrap hair around four hot rollers and let it set for fifteen minutes.
- Step 4: Next, pull the rest of your hair into a ponytail and secure with a hair elastic (choose a color closest to your own hair color).
- Step 5: Let the curls flop to one side and secure the ponytail to the top your head with bobby pins. Overlap the curls, pin them and then mist your entire head again with hairspray.

Love it!
1I love it too!
2Love this look, but even thought my hair is relatively long, I would never be able to do this. For some reason my hair is anti-updo. We've had many a fight about it, and the hair always wins.
3I like this look1
4And it probably take like 5 minutes tops to do!
Sweet, I will have to try it sometimes soon!
I love it! But I know loads of rockabilly girls & this isn't really a style I'd call "rockabilly"
5I love it! (I wish I had the patience to do it!)
6I agree with sashak... when I saw rockabilly hair, this is not what I was expecting...
7yeah! where are the Betty Paige bangs?!
I do like this bun thingy though. When my hair is (finally) grown out I'll give it a try
8i don't know that this is "rocakabilly" hair, but it's cool. i think you have to make sure it's not too tight though.
9I would NOT call this rockabilly hair. When i think of rockabilly, I think of a pompadour...
10Not rockabilly, usually will see short blunt bangs or the front of the hair back-combed into a pompadour with the crown pulled up into a bun or pulled into a pony-tail. This is more reminiscent of the sixties and beehives.
11I am sooo loving this look! I'm doing my hair like that for the weekend!!!!!
12I like it, maybe it would be looking great with a thin hair strip.
