21Demonkitty 18, you're right — fish scales have been used in lipsticks to give them that "pearly" finish. But I got sneaky and asked about the color of red lipstick.
To all of you who are squidged out about the beetles... hate to tell you this, but it's in a lot of our food, too. The dye is called Carmine, but a lot of times it's listed as "natural coloring." And while it *is* natural, it's also a bit gross!
