Recently I made the mistake of buying Cutex Quick & Gentle Non-Acetone Polish Remover ($2.09). The bottle says it's "for artificial and natural nails," so I figured it would be fine for my natural nails. Bzzzt! Wrong! This is the worst nail polish remover I have ever used.
The problem is that it takes a copious amount of product and a lot of rubbing to remove the polish. Last night, it took me almost 10 minutes to take the polish off my nails, and I didn't even manage to remove every last trace. Plus, every time I've used it, my nails feel slightly rough.
Since I don't know much about artificial nails, I did a little research and found out that this type of remover is best for gel and acrylic nails. If you have natural nails, skip it and go with the regular remover. Cutex may be technically right in saying that this polish works for both kinds of nails, but it takes too much work and is too harsh on natural ones.

I've made that same mistake - I think I could have gotten the polish off faster rubbing them with plain water!

2Ah, you made the "non-acetone" mistake. While the non-acetone stuff is a little gentler on your skin, it's the acetone that really takes polish off fast. You're best off using an acetone polish remover and use a good moisturizing lotion afterwards.
3I'm not trying to be rude or anything, but I think it's kind of silly that you're giving a low rating to a product you knowingly used incorrectly. You read that it was for certain types of nails, yet you completely disregarded the information and went ahead and used it on natural nails anyway, and now you're giving it one star? :/
4No rudeness taken. But the package clearly says it's for both acrylic and natural nails — shouldn't it work well on both?

9Sally Beauty Supply has a good acetone remover that is a "nourishing formila for natural nails" the brand is Beauty Secrets and it's 1.79 for an 8 oz bottle. It's the pink one. They have a bunch of different types. Believe me not only is it great but tons of nail salons use it! (Trust me I worked there for 4 years and EVERYONE buys this remover).

11I wouldn't use acetone on my skin/nails. I use an oil remover that you brush on and then wipe away. It's amazing! It's at the drugstore, but I can't think of the name. It's in a pink glass bottle.
12i wish i had read this post sooner!! i too made this mistake this weekend. while picking up some last minute items i grabbed the non-acetone and it really sucks!! it's all oily and takes forever to get the job done.
