In Touch reported that Halle Berry used coffee grinds as a body scrub when she ran out of her exfoliator. Catherine Zeta Jones uses strawberry seeds as a skin brightener and exfoliator (she claims it even whitens her teeth) and Christie Brinkley admitted to using kitty litter in a pinch since the main ingredient is clay.

Pretty resourceful ladies, don't you think? I remember when Bobbi Brown came out with Sandbar soap as part of the summer Beach collection and I thought that was really clever and inventive. Tell me, what is the wackiest ingredient you've ever had to use in place of an exfoliator?

Kitty litter? Seriously?
1UNcoated aspirin with a few drops of water to dissolve it and a squirt of honey.
2I've used apricots as part of my exfoliation and sugar as well.
3I just use sugar
4I use sugar too..
5I've also used the aspirin with yogurt and honey
6Another one I have tried is oatmeal with honey. They work fine!
I've used sea slat and olive oil for a body scrub and it worked REALLY well. It made my skin SO soft!
7Baking soda, kitty litter seems gross and like it would put holes in your skin!
8I use sugar too
9Just sugar. It works very well and is super cheap- what's not to love?
10The onl thing I have ever uses that was different is milk and lemon juice as a toner. It works well for sensitive skin.
11sea salt + sesame oil works great for me.
12i've tried sugar as well, it wasn't that good though..
i never tried 'wacky' stuffs.. just sugar.. and salt
13sand from the beach...when I'm in the shower I scrub my face with it. Smooth results.
14I've tried sugar and olive oil for my body, but my skin is so sensitive and prone to breakouts I am scared to try anything else!!
15I'm with you hottpink. I'm so scared of major breakouts.
16kitty litter??! ewwww
17I agree with aspirin!
18Aspirin & honey.. sometimes sugar too!
19I use brown sugar and honey, and it works so well! And then I use green tea for a toner!
20sand straight from the beach i live on the gulf coast of florida so it's the beautiful white sugar sand. i have also used sea salt and olive oil.
21Sugar and olive oli on my body, and sugar mixed with my face wash on my face. WHats all this about aspirin? Im interested, do tell ladies!
22Yes, I want to know the "recipe" for the aspirin!!
23sugar. I've used a combination of coffee grounds & sugar a few times too. It's great in a pinch if you're travelling and your hotel room provides a coffee maker (I don't drink coffee anyway).
24I've used sugar often especially for my lips.
25Here's the aspirin mask! http://teamsugar.com/group/443021/reviews/558045
26Thanks ALSW!!!!
27sea salt.....but I guess its not that wierd!!
28Sand on beach is always great too!
Sea salt...and sand...nothing too odd there.
29i've used sugar, salt and aspirin as well. I never thought of coffee grounds though interesting
30Coffee grinds + Olive Oil makes an excellent exfoliater, but I recommend it for the body, not the face-if prone to breakouts. I also use Aspirin + Honey + Tea tree oil.
And then theres sugar and salt, which always works!
31i had bad case of acne in my teens, so she would make my strawberry masks, onion masks, and cabage masks. and they actually worked. but were very uncomfortable to make and maitain oh your face. ew. i hated going to her place because she would always come up with something.
32I have used leftover coffee grinds on my thighs, as I heard the caffeine helps tighten the skin
But on my face I have to be very careful sice I break out very easily, so no trying out wacky things.
33Baking soda works great!
34Sugar + lemon juice on the body and the aspirin mask for the face
35I'm a lil confused as to what y'all are exfoliating with all this stuff. I know the coffee grounds thing is a body exfoliator. The caffeine is supposed to tighten and tone the skin, so it's good for thighs and whatnot. But sand on your face? I just use a washcloth with a gentle cleanser and circular motions. That seems to exfoliate my face well enough. When I've tried harsher facial exfoliators they didn't work as well and left my skin stressed-red-blotchy. One of my fave facial exfoliators is Anthony's Logistics for Men. That orange smell is fab.
36Have I gotten off subject.
To redirect, I don't usually use weirdo things and would never use kitty litter, but am totally open to natural/organic/make at home type things, so I'ma look at that aspirin thing. Sounds promising.
Okay so I looked at the aspirin thing and yeah I'ma try it soon. I've also done the tomato-oatmeal-lemon juice mask and loved it. It really made my skin feel and look better.
37Yay, another baking soda fan, baking soda with Cetaphil cleanser is a supermodel trick I learned from watching Style network.
38Sugar + ground coffee is really soothing and yummy smelling too!
39Honey and cornmeal!!!!!!!!
