By now I'm sure you've all heard about Yves Saint Laurent Touché Éclat highlighter ($39.50). This cult beauty product has legions of celebrities who use it, and it's received a load of press in magazines. But does it live up to the hype?
After using this for a few months, I can tell you that it does! But it all depends on what your expectations are. For those of you anticipating a concealer, this will disappoint. A lot of people think it's a concealer, but Touche Eclat is actually a highlighter. It's meant to reflect light off the skin, making under-eye circles and nose creases less visible.

The Touche Eclat formula comes in a pen, and to push up the product, you just twist it once until it clicks. The highlighter then oozes onto a brush, which I use to dab onto my dark circles. Then I gently press and pad the highlighter (rather than brushing it on).
The thing I like about this product is that it doesn't look makeuppy at all, but the skin looks brighter and more luminous. Layered on top of concealer, it keeps makeup from looking cakey or masklike. It brightens up the face just a little, just enough to perk me up when I look worn out. For that alone, I think it's worth the price.

Its so expensive, but I have heard great things about it...
1Maybe I will have to try it out...
I love this stuff!
2I used it to brighten my undereye area and I broke out. The area got itchy and flaky.
3Hmmm I'm not sure if it's worth the $$
4it really is fabulous, but I just can't afford it anymore. it's one of those products that you'll use ALL the time, so you go through it quickly.
I think toofaced makes a sort of knockoff version, but I haven't had time to try it.
But it is a wonderful product for sure.
5I tried this on at the counter yesterday, and my nars concealer stick does the same thing. I get that it's not concealer, but why use it to conceal then? The sales lady didn't tell me to use it to highlight any of the areas that generally get highlighted (brow bones, cheek bones etc). In fact I found that my eyes looked smaller and beadier with it. I don't get the hype and am frankly not impressed. Use the 40 bucks to buy a good pillow instead, it'll come to the same end.
6touche eclat is wonderful, i promise. first, it does not conceal anything but put this on the bow of your upper lip and just below the bottom lip and instantly you look as though you have fuller lips. those little age creases from the nose to the mouth.....gone, have a crooked nose, dab a little on one side and it looks evened out. this is a highlighting miracle in a tube! want more luxe from YSL? try their new foundation tient majuer!
7not sure either ... i'm with madbain...
i'd rather invest the $40 in something else...
8when you put it under your eyes, does your mascara rub off onto it? i find that happens when i try to use under-eye concealers and i just end up having little lash prints instead of dark circles lol
9k8rckstr, it isn't meant to go under your eyes. you can use it in the corners to brighten or to highlight the brow bone, but this does not work as an under eye concealer. however, if you are having a problem with them smearing your mascara, then perhaps it's the mascara that is the issue. if you have long lashes, that will indeed mix with the oils in any concealer and make it rub off like a makeup remover. try an oil free formula like nars or laura mercier and use a water resistant (not waterproof) mascara on your bottom lashes. even dust your lashes with translucent powder before mascara applications sometimes helps.
10Actually, it can be used as a (light) concealer, especially under the eyes. It brightens the area, and makes you look refreshed. It also doesn't crease, which is a miracle in and of itself. So while its not a super duty cake concealer, it can provide a bit of coverage and brightening
11Thanks for the tips Catlesswards
12cute avatar btw.
I've been wanting this for so long, but it's expensive. Maybe I'll beg someone to get it for me during the holidays.
13I use this too but I use it too fast, and it is like of ex, so I stopped after the first one. Great product though.
I am using the Dior Skin Radiant Skin Make up Base, it is their latest and it is like the Touche Eclat... I would totally recommend this product. It comes in a bottle, with a small pump, so you just press once which is enough for each application.
14I love this stuff... but I just cannot afford it. I think I'm going to have to create a makeup budget!
15I need this!
16people who used it frequently (like, everyday!)--how long did the tube last you?
17This product is absolutely wonderful and yes I agree, its become an indulgence for me, I cant buy it whenever Im out of it. Just like Creme de la Mer, I buy it maybe...once a year!
18I love this stuff!!!!
19i use it everyday, and it lasts me probably between 10 months to a year about!
20thanks pinkflake2--i'm going to go get one for myself

22I've tried so many cream products, I could open a store. I would love to compare this one to all of the other face creams I've bought.
