We're into full-blown Fashion Week season, with lots of looks from New York, London, and Paris. This model walked in the Viktor & Rolf show in Paris, and I was struck by her babydoll makeup and wildly wavy hair. It's clearly done to create a high-fashion effect, and it gives me ideas for creating a more toned-down version of the look. I'm curious: What do you get out of runway looks?

It depends on what catches my eye. If it's a makeup look, a silhouette, shoes, or a hairstyle...I like to see what I could find that would work for me. Very, very few people could work the entire look, although if they do, I'd say--more power to them!
I agree with BeautyMave..if i were to try anything it would be makeup related
Some things I try at home, like bright make-up and look at me hair,....but that's only for a wild night out...not an everday look!
Just get some guidelines, & inspiration, & then make it my own.
irritated. I can't wear anything it's like dress up and nothing more to me. I find inspiration in other places.
the general idea of makeup looks. not the exact look themselves as they are over the top, but the use of color, highlighting a certian feature etc. since i dont' have the model body (but who does), i am more inspired to experiment with makeup.
im really into runway, but a lot of the things i would never where its way to over the top even the make up but at times can be reallly cute.
Colours, fabrics, textures, and general "in" things. Runway is great because it's totally balls-to-the-wall about fashion. It takes everything to the extreme. You can pull it back (drastically in most cases) if you look at the elements of what you're looking at.
Maybe a good laugh once in a while?
For nights out my best friend and I occasionally whip out the full-on runway look...it's awesome fun!
Otherwise I find it best to pull it back quite a bit but take some inspiration from it...can't be going into the office with full Balenciaga war paint on, can I?
most of what walks down the runway just looks silly - great costumes but not clothes I can wear to work or going out...
I've never seen anyone wear that stuff in public walking down the street
I get ideas from the runway, but interpret them for real life
I get ideas from the runway, but interpret them for real life...
I used to replicate them, but I just haven't the time nor money for that any more.
i'm entertained by runway fashion, but i wouldn't say that i necessarily replicate the looks. sometimes it's just a little too much for us minnesotans.
haha...
sometimes it inspires me, but I can't just copy them all!
those models can rock anything and I'm jealous lol
Not a thing!
Absolutely nothing!
You have to interpret for Real life.
usually runway is too far over the top for my taste but that's what i love about it. runway takes fashion and beauty to a whole new level. it rocks. enjoy it for the artistic factor it is.
