What Do You Get from Runway Looks?

We're into full-blown Fashion Week season, with lots of looks from New York, London, and Paris. This model walked in the Viktor & Rolf show in Paris, and I was struck by her babydoll makeup and wildly wavy hair. It's clearly done to create a high-fashion effect, and it gives me ideas for creating a more toned-down version of the look. I'm curious: What do you get out of runway looks?

It depends on what catches my eye. If it's a makeup look, a silhouette, shoes, or a hairstyle...I like to see what I could find that would work for me. Very, very few people could work the entire look, although if they do, I'd say--more power to them!

Some things I try at home, like bright make-up and look at me hair,....but that's only for a wild night out...not an everday look!

irritated. I can't wear anything it's like dress up and nothing more to me. I find inspiration in other places.

the general idea of makeup looks. not the exact look themselves as they are over the top, but the use of color, highlighting a certian feature etc. since i dont' have the model body (but who does), i am more inspired to experiment with makeup.

Colours, fabrics, textures, and general "in" things. Runway is great because it's totally balls-to-the-wall about fashion. It takes everything to the extreme. You can pull it back (drastically in most cases) if you look at the elements of what you're looking at.

For nights out my best friend and I occasionally whip out the full-on runway look...it's awesome fun!

Otherwise I find it best to pull it back quite a bit but take some inspiration from it...can't be going into the office with full Balenciaga war paint on, can I? Laughing out loud

most of what walks down the runway just looks silly - great costumes but not clothes I can wear to work or going out...

I get ideas from the runway, but interpret them for real life Smiling

I used to replicate them, but I just haven't the time nor money for that any more.

i'm entertained by runway fashion, but i wouldn't say that i necessarily replicate the looks. sometimes it's just a little too much for us minnesotans. Eye-wink haha...

usually runway is too far over the top for my taste but that's what i love about it. runway takes fashion and beauty to a whole new level. it rocks. enjoy it for the artistic factor it is.
