The latest fragrance from Dolce & Gabbana is The One. You've probably seen the ads, featuring Gisele Bundchen doing the sexy-lady thing she does so well. (Still, when I see "The One," I can't stop thinking of the Backstreet Boys.)

The One is a warm, floral Oriental fragrance. It has top notes of bergamot and mandarin, with touches of lychee and peach. The heart note is more floral, and as the fragrance dries down, you can smell notes of vanilla and sweet amber. When I received the Eau de Parfum, I giddily opened it. I gave a spritz to my arm and waited for my sexy aura to become unmistakable. While that technically happened, it was a very special kind of sexiness: The sexiness embodied in Blanche Devereaux. Y'see, the scent leans just a little too much into the "mature" side of things. I even asked DannySF to take a sniff—and without me saying anything to him, he said, "It's nice... but it's a little old-lady."

That sums it up pretty well: It's a nice enough scent, but certainly not a signature fragrance—and definitely not something I'd expect to smell on a very young woman. If you're a huge D&G fan, you might want to try this, but otherwise, it's just so-so. Finally, I found the commercial for the fragrance, which manages to make Gisele seem like a demanding diva. I'm sure she's just acting (I've heard through the grapevine that she's super down-to-earth) but the ad certainly doesn't make me want to smell The One.
