I've always seen a range of gold polishes available in stores, but I never knew anyone who actually wore them. However, in the past two episodes of The Hills, I've spied pale gold digits on Heidi Montag. They match her newly lightened hair well and since we know that metallics aren't going anywhere, it's only natural that this gilded trend has trickled down to the fingertips. Here are a couple of wearable gold polishes to help liven up your holiday look!

MAC Gold Veneer Nail Lacquer ($10) is part of their Holiday Antiquitease Collection. It is a frosty gold, almost tarnished yellow shade that contains UV protection as well as new technology to make it extra extra glossy. One coat adds a nice pale touch to your fingers, while two coats is darker and a little bit more dramatic.

OPI 18k Ginza Gold Nail Polish ($6) is a glittering slightly deeper gold that also contains a bit of an orangey hue. This light-catching color sparkles like the moon and is part of the very popular Japanese Collection. Would you dare to wear gold nail lacquer?

I do not like this trend.
Maybe a pale gold one...a darker gold would look horrible against my super-pale skin.
I have a really translucent gold that i sue every now and then and it's pretty
I have worn gold nail polish.I still wear it actually. It goes good with my skin tone so that's why I like it.
i love gold nails! rimmel makes a good 60 second quick dry one too.
I feel like it would so gross on me with my pale skin- I think it would only look good for darker skin tones.
It looks surprisingly good on my olive skin. L'Oreal made a really good one a while back called "Las Vegas" but I think they discontinued it. BOO.
I like the color by MAC
I have a more bronzy gold, somewhat like that MAC one and I like it. I hate the brassy antique golds though.
ick. i had this in the late 90s and i couldn't help but feel like i had a nail fungus.
i totally wanna try this...!!! i have pale-ish skin anyone have any recco's for me?
i have the MAC one and I work it as my greek goddess costume for halloween. Maybe I will try it again
I have used gold for holiday parties in the past.. so it's old to me but it's cute. I have done clear polish with gold tips.. it came out super chic. (P.S. I'm super blonde with very pale skin and I believe I wore red/black/white x-mas party get-ups.. if that helps)
absolutely!, I have worn silver for holidays before so I dont know why i wouldnt wear gold. I'm pale with brown eyes and light brown hair so it totally works on me. I try not to go crazy with the bronzer or I end up looking like something the 80's spit out and threw in a trash bin.
Maybe on the right skin tone it would look good.
i'm wearing the MAC one now. i don't like it so much.
I LOVE practically anything gold. Looks good on me.
A pale gold/taupe-ish color would be great but I don't like t his color at all.
its ohkayy
kinda cheesey
I've been wearing gold polish toes and fingers for many years. Am I ahead of the trend, way out there or just doing my own thing? I'm a yellow-olive tone skin and like it especially in autumn, but have worn it other times of the year.
I was reading in Allure this month that grey metallics are in as well. Like the pewter and gunmetal colors. I think I would wear those before the gold. Oh and boo Heidi, she just looks so fake.
I would definetly try it.
i've been wearing gold polish for as long as i can remember...i was actually going to paint my toes gold today (before i even saw this post) in honor of my blue & gold football team playing tomorrow, but haven't yet.
i don't like the color on heidi, though, in the picture above. i'm much darker complected than her, so it doesn't look so one-toned.
Ooh, I need me some gold nail polish now!
No, No, No! And are we seriously using Heidi Montag as a trendsetter here??
I'm disappointed in you Bella!
i did this in the late 90s too. don't love it now at all
I do not think gold flatters anyone when worn on nails.
I've got really pale skin, and when I wear polish, my absolute favorite color is my super translucent pale gold that I have. I've been wearing it forever. It makes you feel very glamorous.
Heidi as inspiration...ew. I have a pretty tan natural skin tone, but I don't think I would go for this. I would feel like I have like yellow fungusy nails....I will stick to my french manicures.
I have olive skin tone so now I really wanna try the MAC polish!
I love using gold nail polish instead of white when I give myself a French manicure. I would suggest using a subtle gold though.
i'd actually prefer silver
I tried this trend and I actually like it. I have the MAC Gold Veneer polish and 1 coat is good. 2 coats is very disco queenish but still looks cool. It's nice for a night out on the town.
And for the record, Heidi sucks!!
