Nuts, but plausible-given the price of products and makeup artists, it wouldn't surprise me; I work for a tv and film production company and our makeup artists generally charge around 300/talent/day, and that's generally for normal talent who don't get to specify what brands and specific colors and such they want.

her career is based on her appearance for the most part...so spending that much per day is probably worth it for her.

It's probably true. The cost of the makeup products and the makeup artist can add up. And whoever her makeup artist is -- he/she is ripping her off, she looks awful half the time.

Youngest_sister what you said really puts it in perspective. Think of the good things J Lo could do with that money. That kind of money for make-up is so decadently wasteful. Oh the problems of the rich and famous.

Its probably true. People like this want the best and want everyone else to know how much it costs. Think about how much she would spend on a pair of shoes or a purse. When money is no object outrages expenditures like this seem perfectly acceptable.

I believe it. Not EVERY day, but if she's using a really famous makeup artist for special occasions, he/she will charge whatever JLo can afford just because they can.

I cannot imagine that even J Lo has this daily expense (it would be close to $3M / year!!) Still...it's ridiculously high even for a one day special event. I clearly went into the wrong line of work

She should really consider visiting MAC for a free makeover before performing! That way she can send me the extra $$ for my school loans. Sheeeesh!

And I seriously doubt that outrageous figure is for like, staying in Wednesday night and watching a movie. Like others said I'm sure it is just for performing and other special events...but STILL!

Okay I voted undecided but let's think about this for a minute. If a lot of us would spend say 1 or 2 grand (IDK, I'm guessing but I know it's a big expense) on a makeup artist for our wedding day, to stay for touch ups during the reception, making sure the wedding party is all beautiful, etc etc.. then I suppose it could make sense for a celebrity to overpay that much supposing their artist was indeed following them around like a puppy and touching up lipstick with every sip or bite...

Okay that's it, I'm going back to beauty school and moving to hollywood! LOL!

I'm sure this has to do with traveling costs and hotel accommodations as well. They probably aren't staying at the Holiday Inn after all.

It's not for the makeup per se, it's for the makeup/hair services. Scott Barnes (who is her makeup artist) charges quite a lot to apply makeup (which 5 star food, lodging and transportation is included), and I forget who her hair guy is, but he's not cheap either. So it's probably $4000 for each person. A "regular" agency makeup/hair person is about $1000/day.

But she's getting a deal-Kevyn Aucoin used to charge $10,000/day for special event stuff. And that was years ago.

This $8000 amount isn't a daily thing (as in every day of the year), it's just when she makes appearances.

I think it's possible...the cost of high-end makeup, the makeup artists (plural) plus feeding them, their airfare, their fancy hotels, etc....adds up. It's not just makeup...

i do not care if your makeup is stunning and makes you look like a freaking supermodel, it is not worth eight thousand dollars. At that price, Some people would buy a car with one or two events worth of makeup.

I heard that Pam Anderson spent that much or more, and mostly it was because she couldn't do her own until she learned. I know that JennLo employs Scott Barnes who is a former painter, but I don't necessarily think she spends that much.
