Welcome back to another Beauty Blooper. My hope is that by sharing our mishaps, we'll see that nobody's perfect—and we can learn a few lessons along the way, too. Here's this week's anonymous tale:
"Hey Bella, I wanted to share my beauty blooper with you so that other readers don't make the same mistake I have. Since red nails are this season's hottest trend, I went out and bought a bottle of that gorgeous Saratoga color from the Nars Holiday 2007 Siren Song Collection. I figured that I could afford to splurge on a designer polish, since I was going to get at least ten at-home manicures out of the bottle.
"I could barely wait to get from the mall to my house to get to work, so at each stop light I'd paint another digit. As you can imagine, this wasn't the brightest idea. By the end of the ride I'd managed to paint all but three nails. I didn't use a base coat, I didn't treat my cuticles and the messy red polish wound up all over my fingers.
"To tidy things up, I took out my wooden stick tool, wrapped it in cotton and dunked it in nail polish remover. When that didn't work at removing the pink stains, I went to town with my cuticle cutter.
"You should see the sad condition of my fingertips now. They're puffy, red, sore, dehydrated from the polish remover and I no longer have any cuticles left. My blood-red manicure is a bloody mess!"
Lesson Learned Patience is a virtue, especially when it comes to beauty. If you aren't going to take the time to give yourself a proper manicure, let a professional do your dirty work.

2I know I've put my shoes on too early so many times and messed up my toes.
3i have done the shoe thing! more then once! it totally sucks!
4jeez. sounds horrible. i would never do this. as much as i love nail color, i'm not obsessed with it.
5the color is nice but not all that spectacular. i don't see myself spending more than $6-7 on polish, which is about how much my beloved Essie costs.
6That's hilarious. I'd've been worried about spilling polish all over myself or my car!
7i have ruined SO many manicures bc of rushing around... the worst, i think, was when i put my hand in my pocket to get the tip for the manicurist and, well... you know when you've done something really bad, but you don't want it to be true, so you just pretend nothing has happened? hahaha! i kept my hand in there for a minute or so, until there was no denying that i had effectively scraped the polish from my nails... and decorated the inside of my pocket and the top of my hand in the process! so, you see, even when the actual job is left to the pros, hahahaha, the potential to mess it up is there in all of us, and sometimes there is no escaping it.
8People paint their nails while driving??
That is one of the most absurd things I've ever heard. It's NAIL POLISH. Wait til you get home. Jeez.
9omg - LOL! I love nailpolish but not enough to bust it out in the car. What if it spills and gets all over your seats?
10I'm really good at doing my own manicures and pedicures. I think I do a better job than the spas I've been to. I swear by Seche Vite quick-drying top coat. You apply it while your nail polish is still wet, and in just a couple of minutes you have a flawless glass shine and dry nails! At the moment, I'm loving a classic red color: OPI 25 Colorful Years.
11Eek! I hate being rushed when I do my nails!
12I cant never rush while painting my nails. This is why I dedicate a day when I do my own mani's but usually I just get them done at a salon!
You must have been extremely excited to paint your nails blood red and drive at the same time. WOW!
