Guerlain has just released a lipstick called Kiss Kiss Gold and Diamonds. The lipstick tube is 18k yellow gold, and adorned with 199 diamonds. It comes with its own lip brush and suede pouch, and the encasing can be engraved with a name or other message.
It is not cheap. Can you guess how much it costs?

wow i was the first to get 100%. I love the lipstick but the cost is wayyyyy crazy. But if you think about it, the tube is gold, and theres 199 diamonds on the thing. I'd have to be in heaven to recieve that... or win the lottery.
1I guess that's what you'd wear on your lips when you go to get your $25,000 sundae at Serendipity!
2No one here sees a problem with spending that much on a useless lipstick tube? It's an outrage!
3That is INSANE...
4Ridiculous!!
5That is completely ridiculous and wrong!
6It is just a tube of lipstick, you do not have to use up all your savings....
7crazy!
8If I had the money laying around, why not?
9Would NOT, even if I had the money, buy something that ridiculous.
10My guess is that most companies who create products like this don't really expect to sell that many (or any), but they do it for the publicity. And it works
.
11That's rediculous. Anyone who would spend that kind of money on something so insignificant should be ashamed.
12It's ridiculous, but hey, whatever works to get publicity. Kind of like the diamond encrusted Hello Kitty pet bed, huh?
13Holy...
14I wouldn't buy that lipstick even if I was disgustingly rich. No way. And to the people that would buy it, shame on them.
15Daaaaaaaam, I guessed the $2,000 one. Who would buy this????
16Insane price!
17wouldn't you rather have those diamonds on a ring!!??
18If i'm going to buy gold and diamonds, it is not going to be on a lipstick tube. What an insane waste of money. Even if I had all the money in the world i wouldn't buy something like this. It's disgusting.
19Seriously, what is the point? I agree with "Glosslizard". This nonsense and that Serendipity gold ice cream deserve each other. I wonder what happens the exact moment your $62,000 lips touch the $25,000 dessert.
20What a waste of gold, diamonds, and money.
21pffft, crazy as hell.
22i i took that out of my bag- people would laugh and say that the diamnonds and gold were fake, noone will think its real, so you cant show it off
and its a very unpractical colour range.
even if i had millions i wouldnt buy it.
crazy stuppid people
that money would go to a down payment for a home or a nice car. NOT an encrusted diamond lipstick.
23Ha ha, bebedolce! I think that when they touch, a hundred gold-diggin' guys looking for a sugar mama appear in a puff of ostentatious spending!
24I would never! Even if I could afford it.
25um.....wow....
26It's obviously not marketed for the masses. This is something the likes of the wives of tycoons and moguls will be buying. I see no problem with people spending their money as they like.
27Wow, thats a lot of cash! I wish I had enough money to buy a lipstick that expensive!
28i could be all non judgemental and say people should spend their money the way they want to. i usually am.
BUT
this is just beyond. there are people who are starving and homeless out there. if somebody has enough money to buy that lipstick, they should consider upping their charity donations.
and even if it is just a media stunt and not made for the masses, guerlain should be ashamed of themselves. its just so wrong to even make this product in the first place.
29that is sick. you can get a good lipstick for $20
30um....why?!?!?
31even if i was filthy stinkin rich i wouldnt be so idiotic to spend it on lipstick....
32Always guess the extreme.
33Always guess the extreme.
34Oh man. That's one pricey lipstick case. I know I could never afford it. But I bet it'd make a really wonderful - I don't know....anniversary gift. Or wedding gift. I disagree with just about every person whose posted thus far. My take on it is, so what? So they charge as much for lipstick as you could spend on a really nice car. But a lot of people buy their spouses cars for their weddings, don't they? It's their money to spend as they see fit, and it's up to no one but themselves to decide what's fit.
I agree that there are much better ways of spending money, MUCH better. I'm not about to get bitter and angry about it, though. There are much better things to get bitter and angry about. I'd rather just admire the craftsmanship.
35Amen.
36Hmmmm so that would certainly draw attention once fashioned into a pinky ring after the lipstick's used up!! Surely you'd want to do something else with it!
37There are hungry people in this country! For an individual who has enough money to spend $62k on a useless tube of lipstick is wrong - just wrong!
38I'd rather spend that on a solitaire going on my finger where I could admire it and others would assume it was real, not on a lipstick that goes in my purse and i would have to make people look at it when I took it out to ut it on. I could always redo my kitchen for that much money or buy matching cars for me and my husband, but, it would be best in the bank gaining interest towards retirement. Lipstick is totally outrageous and no one would believe it was real and you'd be terrified of losing it, I thought paying $300 for a pair of designer sunglasses was ridiculous, but, you'll probably see Paris or Lindsey with thst lipstick.
39So what happens when you use up all that red lippie? Is it a
refillable tube?
I love makeup and I'm sure people think my cosmetic purchases are silly but this reminds me of the million dollar bra from Vikki's. Silly and self indulgent. Like something Britney would buy then toss in the backseat of her nasty dirty $100,000 car.
ONE.org
40i want to know how many of these sell!
41Wow, who would buy that?
42Is this a refillable tube??
43HOLY crazy money!?!?!?!?!
44If I'm going to spend $62,000, I want diamond earrings, bracelets, the works! Not lipstick. On the other hand, they wouldn't make it if there wasn't a market for it.
45Oh gosh, you guys are looking at it from the perspective of the ordinary joe - which I assume we all are, so I suppose it's only natural. The folks who're going to buy this thing aren't the ordinary joe. They don't have to worry about saving for retirement, or using it as a down payment on anything. They're so rich, they already have it all taken care of (probably by someone else). This is just spare change to some people.
I don't think it's meant to project the same image as jewelry. Most people have jewelry: a diamond ring, a gold necklace, some other valuable trinket. But who has a diamond studded gold lipstick case? Now that's extreme! It's just a novelty, meant to be unique; maybe a conversation piece.
And yes, I looked it up; it's refillable. (For that much, it'd better be, huh?) They have (I think it was) 15 "customizable" shades. I wonder what that means. I suppose if you're wealthy enough to buy the lipstick, you can have them make up a special shade all for your own?
46that's so ridiculous, I'm going to forget I read it
47rightttttt? how many lippies does a girl lose in lifetime? give me jewelry instead please.
48Oh my gosh you would have to have a screw loose to spend that kind of money on lipstick. I would like to think my favorite celebs do not dare hopefully only those Hilton types that would be so reckless with money.
49Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this is a little excessive. Even if you have millions, psh, I'd rather spend $25 on a Nars or Chanel lipstick. (Honestly, I'd probably lose the $62k lipstick, even with all the diamonds and gold!) But yes, it is refillable, and it comes in 15 different shades. Maybe that justifies the cost?
