I've often heard that blemishes can bloom from diet changes, hormonal fluctuation, and from changing skincare products. All of these factors may contribute in some way to the outbreak of spots, but one thing I know for sure is that when I am stressed, I always suffer a breakout.
I decided to do a little bit of research to find out why, if in fact it is stress that is such a traumatic trigger for my skin. Who better to turn to for advice than to the Aveda Research Team. After all, they've just spent tons of time developing a line of Ayurvedic products called Outer Peace, which are designed to achieve clear and balanced skin. Take this quick quiz to find out if stress is really a cause of blemishes, or if it's all in your head.

Stress stinks
1yea I HATE stress!
2My pimples are so directly related to stress that I can usually assign an individual stressor to each pimple that pops up.
3I usually get one if I'm stressed.
4yup totally true..im writing finals and got one. murphy's law realy, the one time you really dont need the extra pain you get it.
5stress is the root of all health problems
6thats the worst because it's not like changing a diet... you can't just "NOT" stress!
((
7Oh, I thought about stress affecting hormones, but then I thought that when you're stressed, your immune system isn't at the top of its game, and that could be why. Like they say for exams: Your first answer is probably the right one!
8ha! It sure can.
9I moved out of my hometown a few months ago, my face was absolutely clean but it was so sad and stressful and I felt terrible, the first week at the new 'home' my face got horrible!
No doubt it can
10My boyfriend and I got in a car accident last february and his mother died. The following months I had a horrible face for afew months and he had a terrible back. Now that we are passing the mournign period my face and his back are better. I kind of thought it had to do with the accident but now i know it was directly related, and of course, there was nothing we could have done to not stress ourselves over that.
11That was an easy one. Stress sucks lol.
12What makes it worse is when after you break out from stressing, you start stressing out about the breaking out and it recycles.
zc, about getting it when you least need it - isn't that the truth!
13my face completely breaks out when i'm stressed
14I think it does.
15When I get stressed I break out sometimes.
My skin would be blemish-free if it weren't for stress... then when I get them from stress, I stress out more!
16I was just talking about this theory with my mother the other day. If I don't get enough sleep or I'm extra stressed about something it shows up on my face despite cleansing daily, being careful about making sure my makeup's not contaminated, not switching up makeup, etc. If I stay rested and get enough beauty zzz's then it seems to cure itself.
17I think it causes stress, definitely.
18no wonder why....j/k
19Stress and taxes we can't seem to get around either of them, then we die.Wow something to look foward to huh????
20Hormones suck! They cause all sorts of trouble. I have a friend that says she's pregnant every time she gets a zit because she says she is going to "deliver" and have a baby when she pops it. However, I know that every beauty editor would say that popping zits is a big no no.
21Stress ruins everything.
