Last night at the American Music Awards, Ashanti looked like a golden goddess. Instead of playing it safe and staying subtle with her makeup, she opted to pair metallic gold eyeliner with gorgeous soft pink lips and shimmery pink eyeshadow. This contrast worked to enhance her smooth and glowing skin. Kudos to Ashanti for taking a risk on the red carpet!

- FACE: Since you want your eyes to stand out the most, your face should look smooth, hydrated, and even. Try a slightly luminous foundation like Stila Illuminating Liquid Foundation in 60 Watt . Blend well, then use a setting powder if you feel the shimmer is too strong.
- CHEEKS: Use a dusty-mauve or rose blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend outwards towards your hairline. A blush with a little bit of sparkle like this Lorac Blush in Soul mixed with a highlighter is a perfect way to achieve this sexy look.
- EYES: Begin by applying a shimmer beige shadow like one side of the Nars Duo Eyeshadow in Sugarland all over your lid. Then use the other shade (the sparkling pink) in the crease and blend. Line your upper lids with a black-liquid liner and extend the line so that you create dramatic wings. Next, apply a gold-liquid eyeliner like this Chantecaille Luminous Eye Liner in A Crescendo on the bottom and top with two coats of black mascara.
- LIPS: Lastly, choose a sweet-pink lipstick and lip gloss that matches the deepest pink in your eyeshadow. Something bubble gummy and mod such as Nars Lipstick in Masai topped with a little bit of Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect Lip Gloss in Organza Pink is just what you're looking for!

I do not want this look...
1Yea I was thinking when I first saw her that this look REALLY didn't flatter. I mean it looks OK but not something I would wear on the red carpet.
2oh lawdy shawdy.. either blend that brown, or ditch the platinum lid. its not working mama.
3ashanti is still being invited to the AMA's??
4i'm suprised we're getting how-to tips on this particular look since this is a how-to we don't want to know about.
5There's something about the bright liner under her eyes that makes her whole face look.... off.
6This was the worst make-up look of the night. Way too busy!
7What a pretty lady. I hardly ever see her.
8i think the makeup is nice.. it proly just dont look that nice on photos
9shouldnt we give kudos to the makeup artist that did her face? im pretty sure she didn't put it on herself. i dont really even think the look was that great. shes still pretty though.
