Wrinkles are inevitable. Or are they? Some yoga instructors are teaching facial yoga classes, claiming that a few movements produce results along the lines of "natural Botox." The exercises, which include making kissy faces and puffing out the cheeks, sound odd — but some practitioners swear by the results. What do you think?

My gran taught me a few things to do to keep my face toned and to avoid the double chin or saggy jaw line. While that and facial massage for draining can be great, I don't think I'd try facial yoga. I'll stick to the few things my gran's advice.
1Every study I've ever seen, from Botox users to observations of stroke victims with partial paralysis, indicate that lack of motion reduces the incidence of wrinkles and any increase in motion (especially kissy faces!) increases them. Possibly facial exercises could improve muscle tone, but I don't believe that it would help with wrinkles!
2Never taught us this at Beauty College İ think its a bit silly
3Totally ridiculous. I can't imagine doing this.
4lo it look funny i never do that !!!!!
:)
5Sure, why not? There are muscles in the face just like every other part of our body and I know for a fact that stress is stored there and on the head. When my boyfriend rubs my head (kind of pinching more than "rubbing", lest he damage my hair), it's ecstasy. As for helping with wrinkles - I don't know, but it seems to make sense. If you tone muscles anywhere on your body, your skin is less saggy and more resilient.
6very coooool. i will research
7I thought that "making faces" and other movements would increase wrinkles... but hey, I am no expert in the field!
8I've heard this before, but never knew if it was true and really worked. Lots of things that make sense just because they seem like they would work in fact don't work at all.
9I don't know about this one. I would say, Couldn't hurt to try, but what if trying produces more wrinkles like some folks said?
I am so confused.
For what it's worth, I've had a dermatologist tell me that the best way to stave off wrinkles is to "make as few facial movements as possible." Not likely, obviously! But some people swear by this facial yoga stuff.
10Does it have to be referred to as "yoga" or are these just simple face excercises. Gimme a break!
11will see...
12Maybe....I'm on the fence about it. It sounds less drastic than Botox, but I wonder how effective it is and if it's at all worth it.
13I've heard of facial exercises, but I've never heard of facial yoga. I have to agree with Bella, the less facial expressions would probably be the best bet for not getting wrinkles as soon. But then again some muscles in the face would probably benefit from some toning.
14Facial yoga?
15This reminds me of the thing I saw on The Soup on E! about this neck strengthener and toner on the home shopping network.... Did anyone see that? The ladies put this thing in their mouth and then they would do a series of exercises with it. Really weird looking.....
16I also think this would cause more wrinkles. For the kissy face one specifically, since it's the same motion you do to suck on a straw (or smoke a cigarette) and it will cause lines around your lips.
17Seems just like a way to make money to me. Even if it were good for you, you could do it at home instead of paying for a class and making funny faces in public.
18No...
19I have a hard time believing this one...
20I think it would work if you did it over the years.
21My yoga teacher brought this into class today, and we tried it for the first time. She said that she was unsure about the results (regarding less wrinkles, ect.), but that if you have a cold, or are getting sick these will help open up passages and you are able to release toxins easier and faster.
I did feel like I was breathing easier and had better vision.
22Hmmm... another scheme to take your money; after all we women will try anything to be beautiful!
23My logic wants to argue that this wouldn't do anything for wrinkles.
If making kissy faces (and the like) were going to help give you a botox effect, why do smokers get such awful wrinkles around their mouths from puffing away so much?!?!
I'll pass.
24I'd do anything not to age
25sniff sniff am only 25 sniff
Well theyre muscles right??
26lol
27haha it sounds ridiculous but I'd definitely try it
28technically it really should work cause they're still muscles and will get toned, which always prevents sagging
SCARRRRRRRYY!LOL.
29people say a lot of things to make an extra buck...doesn't make it any more true.
30huuuuhhhhh....well it definitely isn't workin for the woman in that picture.
31it sounds crazy, but i might try it. though i'd like the poster who mentioned her gran's advice to post gran's advice.
hehehe...
32worth a try
33the photo is scarey but i tried a few movements and they kinda hurt..
34i love my yoga instructor. she's never done me wrong. if she suggested we give it a try during a class i totally would. i might start laughing part of the way through.
