There's been a lot of hype leading up to the launch of Cover Girl Lash Blast—so much so that I've actually had a hard time tracking it down. Finally, Walgreens received a shipment, where I picked up a tube in black for $6.99.
After seeing so many samey-samey mascara wands, it's fun to see the fat orange tube, bent wand and prickled brush of Lash Blast. It's all just a design-geek thing, but still, it helps the product stand out. For my full review, including before-and-after pics, read more
First, the good. The mascara goes on smoothly and evenly, without leaving clumps. It also separates lashes and adds a very slight curl. It gives a little bit of that false-eyelash look without crossing the line into actual fakeness, and it doesn't flake. I don't think it appears to lengthen lashes as much as thicken, separate and define them. (Check out the pictures and you'll see what I mean.)
There's not much to complain about with this product, except that I don't like the feel of the wand in my hand. It's a little too short and stubby for me. Aside from this quibble, though, it's an impressive drugstore mascara that's bound to challenge Great Lash in popularity.

I love the flexible silicone brush.... I use Lash Exact and I adore it.... I think I'll try this one...
1i love lash exact too. i like it better than the more expensive ones because they clump and that annoys me
2I got this and love it! However, my brush isn't bent like that.
3i like the brush a lot i use the other one exact one and its awesome. I checked in CVS Pharmacy and it was $8:45. I will go to walgreens to pick one up.
4i love the volumeexact mascara, sort of like the lash exact, but this lashblast looks too thin to me. i like a plumper look to my lashes. and i agree on the wand thing, i find it too chubby.
5ktc71: you bend the wand in the tube to get it at that angle.
Bella I also did a review of this in BPJ
6This was SO hard to track down, but I have to say I like the Volume Exact better, more lush lashes and not as clumpy!!
7I really liked the VolumeExact mascara, until I tried Max Factor's 2000 calorie mascara, and I love that one now.
8I love Lash Blast and don't find it clumpy at all. I usually only need one coat for excellent volume!
9It's not as good as my Clinique High Definition Brush Then Comb Mascara, but it's not bad.
I bought it a few weeks ago when I first saw it at CVS and think it's pretty nice. I agree that it's not clumpy. It doesn't separate and give as much definition as I like in a mascara though. But for the $$, it's a pretty decent product.
10I get so excited when I see a review. I LOVE reviews! More, please.
I think this one
makes lashes clump together too much. I, like the poster above, like my mascara to separate.
11I need some new mascara because the xxl one is way to clumpy for me. Maybe I'll check this one out.
12I like the volume exact and lash exact. Perhaps I'll try this one.
13I got this mascara and I really like it. My only complaint is that it flakes off after long wear. It's much better than the alternative black smudges under your eyes.
14ive been in love with the same mascara for awhile, i swear by lycra lash extender by rimmel, it goes on without clumps, separates the lashes, doesnt flake off throughout the day and leaves my lashes long and full, its perfect for the day and night, one coat brightens up your eyes for the day, and two coats with eyeliner and an eyelash curler provides for the perfect dramatic look for the night
15this is the result i get for the latter:

if this is the effect youre looking for, i highly recommend it!
They've had this at our WalMart for quite some time. The display has a wand attached so you can feel it and bend it. Drew Barrymore was on the display.
16I don't know the difference between brands with this type of brush but I use Max Factor Lash Perfection in Soft Black (bought it on a whim) and I LOVE IT!
It does not clump, flake, give raccoon eyes or run. It rinses off easily with cleanser and water. I noticed a real difference in my eyes vs. other mascaras I have owned in the past. This was visible enhancement!
I love the brush, I think it works better than the conventional kind.
17I have to try this; I love the look of the product and I'm a huge Drew Barrymore fan, sooo I need to try it,lol.
18Since mascara has such a short shelf life I'm always grabbing a drug store buy mascara until I'm ready to go to the counter and get what I want. I'll have to remember this! I usually grab a L'oreal one, I can't remember which but I really like it. And wow you have some beautiful long lashes Bella, I'm so jealous! Mine are so short and sparse.
Only the men in my family get great lashes while the girls suffer, lol. My brother and both my sons
have lashes to die for! So unfair!
19WOW! $6.99!!!
20So cheap! I pay £17.50 (around $35 dollars) for my mascara!
pffft I'm gonna get me somma that!
HMM interesting the one I purchased didn't have a bent wand. Ok, I need to read all the comments before I start typing mine.
21I've seen this but I'm pretty happy with what I currently use...
22I have a tip for all you guys. So, I have tried EVERY MASCARA out there. You have to try the volumizing mascara from The Body Shop. It's great, and they also support free trade between developing countries.
23What I do is use the volumizing mascara, then I run a small brush through it like... define-a-lash by maybelline's mascara wand and it gives me big gorgeous separated lashes!
Try it and let me know how it works... I love the body shop mascara!
I use Maybelline XXL Curl Power and really like it but i might try this after i run out
24This looks similar to lash exact and that stuff makes my eye lashes so clumpy..
. I think I'll
just stick to Maybelline Full and Soft..I love that stuff.
25I'm not so sure I like the way it looks. Instead of having a fan of 20-25 beautiful eyelashes, it looks like she has just 8 or 10 really fat lashes.
26Atiyah: Mine doesn't have the bent wand either. Someone(forget their name, I'm sorry!) responded to me last night saying that you can bend the wand in the tube, but I tried that this morning and it doesn't bend. Its not a big deal to me, I still love it!
27i'm not really impressed by the look of this mascara. i totally swear by diorshow mascara or rimmel eye magnifier but i think i'm gonna try the lycra lash extender ambermarie is talking about!
28I tried it and it did nothing for me...I'll stick to my Diorshow mascara.
29I agree with cnlew. I prefer the fan-style lashes.
So far Diorshow (I use waterproof) is my Holy Grail mascara for thick, long, dark lashes. I find the big fat brush works really well for me. I wanted to really like Benefit's Bad Gal (which has a similar brush), but that stuff only looks awesome for the first five minutes -- once you blink, it smudges like crazy.
I've tried a couple of those mascaras with the plastic prickled brushes (like Max Factor Lash Perfection), and they've always made my lashes look stringy and clumpy.
30Sounds good as a last minute pick up
31I was actually kind of scared to try this mascara after reading some early reviews on makeupalley.com, but when my mom decided to get it for me, I couldn't say no. I am very pleased with the results and have gotten compliments about my "fake" eyelashes. I like to use LashExact when I don't feel the need for so much volume and drama. In either case, I'm really liking these new CoverGirl mascaras!
32I got this mascara when it first came out. I hunted it down! I was happy with the results it gave me -- thick, lush lashes. The only problem is that it tends to fade a little by the end of the day, but since it doesn't clump, it's easy to reapply. I'm with shugah, I like CG mascaras!
33I just bought this about a week ago during vacation. I love it. But I think I have to make another stop to get the black color. They only had the black brown color when I bought it :[
34no really impressed....
lancome HYPNOSE still has my vote on best mascara.
35For $6.99 I don't see how you could go wrong!
36I like the way the brush looks! Though, I'm sticking to my DiorShow. I just can't stray...
37Eeew she needs under-eye conceler. Love the mascara.
38Ok, first of all lilstacylou that's a little mean! I'm sure she wasn't trying to do all of her make up for us! Anyway I really like Lamcome Hypnose too Glamourgasm, and I just started wearing a base underneath and it really helps! I just ordered Lancome's Virtous Courbe or something like that, it's suppose to curve more then hypnose...
39I've tried almost every mascara out there, and Volumeexact is my absolute favorite. I noticed alot of people said they love DiorShow, but I hated it. It made mmy eyes sting for 10 minutes every morning, and the little plasic thingie kept coming out on my brush, so I would just have this huge clump of mascara on it. I will never buy it again!
40i tried lash exact waterproof and had a hard time with the rubber bristles. i'm a fan of applying mascara from root to tip and found that the bristles were so long and spread apart that i got product on my lids as well as my lashes. i also feel like it clumped up after a few weeks of use too.
i'll stick to my diorshow
41I must say I like the picture with "naked eyelash" the most..it makes the lashes look so much longer and softer..and more, instead of some fat ones.
42love this mascara. I saw the commerical a couple of weeks ago and had to get it! i am addicted to mascara. i was pleasantly surprised when i put it on. It made my eyes pop and i have never had a mascara do this before. I love the fact that it also comes off easily with soap and water. I would recommend people to try it. It is great that it is an affordable mascara and gets the job done! this is now a staple in my makeup bag!
43I am not sure why she thinks her lashes look good- I agree with the comment about having 8 eyelashes..... I personally love the mascara over the top of volume exact mascara- it makes HUGE lashes!
44How much does Diorshow cost? Isnt it like $40??? (anyone have any idea what it costs in canadian $$$)?
45I liked Lash Blast but that was all. Just "liked". I ahve yet to find a mascara that blows me away. But I keep hearing about Diorshow
46hmm it doesn't seem all that special to me...
47this is my favorite mascara! I bought 4 at a time because I use it so much and its worth every penny. it makes my eyes pop and look amazing. I will always be a fan of lash blast. I wish I could see more in the tint of glitter one. The regular lash blast does the job with only a couple brushes. F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S!!!
