Even though stores are filled with people seeking gifts for friends and family, let's be realistic: Most people pick up a little something for themselves, too. And why not? It's been a long year, and a bit of pampering won't hurt.

For this month's must-haves, I've found items that will help you primp and prepare for end-of-year festivities—along with a few that'll help you decompress from the stress of the holidays. To see my picks, read more
- If there's any time to have shiny, shimmering hair, it's in December. I'm planning to pick up Fekkai Sparkling Shimmer Spray ($13.50), a mist that has microscopic diamond crystals to lend a subtle golden glimmer to your hair. Paired with good tools like this T3 mini flat iron ($119), it would provide a professional-quality hairstyle for New Year's and beyond.
- Urban Decay's holiday kit is worth considering. Midnight Cowboy Rides Again ($32) is spot-on with the metallic trend. It includes a golden, shimmery beige eye shadow, Eyeshadow Primer Potion (so your color will stay put), an eye pencil in a deep coppery shade, and glittery gold eyeliner. Worn all at once, these items would be too much. But adding just one item to your regular look will be a gild-y pleasure.
- If you're visiting family during the holiday season, you'll need portable, flight-friendly body care supplies. You may also need to de-stress. (Just sayin'.) This gorgeous Red Flower Hammam Set ($56) lets you do both. It contains travel sizes of these 100% natural goodies: Moroccan mint tea silt purifier, lemon coffee blossom olive stone scrub, jasmine rose rhassoul clay polish, orange quince steam room mist, cardamom amber oil, tangerine fig butter cream. Just reading about them makes me want to relax and unwind with a cup of tea.
- Bonne Belle Smackers ($2.95) are a favorite from my childhood, and since 'tis the season for chapped lips, I figure it can't hurt to have a few extra lip balms on hand. I'm a fan of the Dr. Pepper flavor, which takes me way back to junior high.

aw, I so love the dr. pepper flavored one!
1Wow. Never saw the Dr. Pepper one before.
2i have used the fekkai hair shimmer and can say that it is the only fekkai product i have ever been disappointed in. it sprayed for about 3 seconds before becoming completely clogged up by the glitter that is in the can, leaked all over the base of the can and no amount of cleaning out could get it to work again.
3Oh, I've already picked up plenty of things for myself this holiday season...nothing too extravagent or anything, but still. I can't help it sometimes!
The Dr. Pepper balm was my favorite Bonne Bell too...I still like it and keep one onhand. It reminds me of being a little girl and playing with makeup.
4I alway by myself a Christmas gift or two...or ten. I got Missoni fragrance, Scratch Deluxe Shadow by Urban Decay. BE Laughter blush, Stila warehouse sale loot—Blue Bonnett palette, Spiced Rum Lip Glaze, Glimmer Lip Polish and Petal Blush.
5I'm totally besotted by the Urban Cowboy set. I think I'll wait for the post-Christmas sale, though.
6OooooOOoo nice shadow...
7The flat iron is so cute in fuchsia; more affordable too.
8i still use the dr pepper lip balm - i think they recently changed the formula though! it's still pretty good - sheer pretty color that tastes yummy.
9There are lots of bonne bell lip gloss/balm gift sets too. I've seen a coke one that has 5 or 6 in it, different flavors but w/ dr. pepper and others for like $5.
10I can't describe my hate for "Dr. Pepper".
11It's just... disgusting.
I think a high quality iron is what I've been missing in my life
12love the flat iron
13I have always had at least one Dr. Pepper Lip Smacker in possession for the past 10 years. Even when I've bought Aveda or Bigelow lip gloss I realize the Dr. Pepper trumps them for me.
14I just bought the dr.pepper for the first time recently, its pretty good! The other stuff doesnt interest me
15The Urban Decay is a must ... have it and love it!
16Yes, I think I need all of this stuff
17Dr. Pepper is the BEST! I have Midnight cowboy and it is too glittery for me.
18does anyone know where i can find propoline chapstick/balm?
19I'm obsessed with Dr. Pepper Lip Smackers too, it's been my guilty pleasure for years!! It's not only a yummy flavor and goes on creamy but it gives your lips just a hint of color. The best part is the price!
20I'm a pepper too. I miss BB lip Smackers.
